I need to book a hotel for a night’s stay at the airport. Has anyone done this and where would you recommend please? I’m so confused!

Why are you confused?
Just Google hotels and book one in the location you need
Or use booking.com

Roadmapblues · 09/03/2024 06:58

I’ve done that but I’m confused as to which is ideal for what I need it for, so I am asking for experiences. Thanks!

Check out reviews on the various sites about hotels out there, that might help you come to a decision. Good luck.

Booking.com or AirBnB usually works out for me. Just book anywhere in the city 🤷‍♀️.

Roadmapblues · 09/03/2024 07:20

I’m asking if there is anyone on here who has used anywhere specific, or who might be able to recommend somewhere they’ve stayed near the airport. I know what all the review sites say but the place I had my eye on is fully booked and if you know the location you will know it’s a little way out. There are a few other factors because it’s not in the city. It is also out of season and many reviews are written when holiday resorts are in full swing. This is why I’m asking if anyone can help with particular recommendations.

Oh come on! If you’re this hopeless then perhaps better to stay at home!

Jesus Christ, there’s literally access to 99% of all places to stay right there in your hand, with sites like Tripadvisor to help with understanding what it’s like to stay.

i can’t even begin to imagine how you’d have coped in the pre internet days when your only option was to head down to the local travel agent and haul home half a ton of brochures

I think you might be misunderstanding.
This is Mumsnet where people, like the OP, ask for specific hotel recommendations based on other people having stayed there.

I had the best holiday last summer because of a hotel recommended by a MNer.

Is it so hard to understand?

ASighMadeOfStone · 09/03/2024 08:09

@Roadmapblues

It doesn't look like there's one within walking distance of the hotel but there are these two which have shuttles.

Not sure if they are the sort of thing you're looking for?

If it's not a mega early/late flight, tbh, I'd stay in one of the established chains in Palermo itself. At least you know what you're getting then.

Palermo Airport Hotels

Palermo Airport Hotels, If sleeping in Palermo Airport PMO does not appeal to you, there are hotels near the airport information

Roadmapblues · 09/03/2024 08:13

Thank you @ASighMadeOfStone That’s exactly it, I was wondering if anyone had any specific experiences.

I had narrowed it down with Bookings, Expedia & Tripadvisor to those two in your link but 1 is fully booked and the other has mixed reviews.

I get in v late and have to leave early but I do have a car - so need parking. Maybe staying in the city in a chain is better than in the airport location.

Thanks again, just taking it through has helped hugely.

Meant to add - @ASighMadeOfStone One of the chains in the city also comes in at hood value. Think I will go for that! I just want somewhere where I feel safe. I e hear the city can be a bit rough!

Airport is about 40 mins from Palermo.

if you decide on city centre we stayed here. Lovely area, beautiful hotel, walking distance to restaurants and parking on street

Not unique to this thread unfortunately. Loads of posters can't wait to jump on to a thread to berate other posters....I had to hide a thread earlier as a light-hearted joke was deliberately twisted around to be made anything but....

There's not much around the airport but you can take the airport shuttle bus, Punta Raisi, to central Palermo, takes about 45mins depending on traffic. Hotel Politeama is in a good location for the shuttle bus route going to and from the airport

Ooops! I was half sleeping when I posted this! Thank you, @Chocbuttonsandredwine . I’m making a list for next time, too and will stay there for next trip. I booked a chain in the end as I will arrive late but I can’t wait to orient myself around there! Thank you. 💐

That’s excellent, and confirms what I thought. Looks like there’s a nice spa type place in Cinesi where the airport is. I might go there next time & then drive on. Will add Hotel Politeama to my list for next time. I was wondering how reliable the shuttle bus was. Fab, thank you!
