My 13 month old has a bit of a cold, he's all snotty but tonight for the second night in a row he is just awake and hysterical. And I mean hysterical. He has literally not slept for longer than half an hour and the screaming starts again. I've had a few 15 min intervals of sleep myself in between these wakings and am currently sat here crying myself whilst he screams again. He sleeps 12 hours every night but even when he was newborn he has never ever slept this badly. This second night of it has broken me I just don't know how to run on zero and I'm terrified how long this is going to keep going.. he's so upset and so tired but don't get what's going on he doesn't seem poorly enough to be this awake 😭😭

Hi, does he have a temperature or need any calpol to help with his cold? Have you tried to tilt his bed at a slight angle so he isn't laying flat if he has a blocked nose it will be easier for him to breathe, I'm sure you've thought of things Op I just always found in my sleep deprivation I'd forget random things.

I hope you both get some sleep soon

I'm really no expert but as this is so out of character for him and 2 days now I think personally I'd call 111 to see if they need to check if something medical is the matter. (Though Murphys law says he'll then finally drop off just before they call you back and they'll then insist you rouse him to check he's ok!)
Presume you've checked his temperature, checked him over physically (i read about things like babies with hair wrapped round finger etc), have you tried calpol in case of eg teething pain? Did he nap in the daytime or has he not really slept for 2 days now? Overtiredness can cause or add to restlessness and irritability, if i felt sure that was the only problem (and no rash/fever etc and tried calpol) I'd try something like putting him in moving pushchair to get him off as that used to help mine.

I hope he's better soon.
