I passed! I’m over the moon! But…. Just been checking the comparison sites and I can’t get insurance for less than £250 per month!

I’ve even tried black box insurance but it’s the same. Can I lower this somehow??

Seriously tho? His car is a) old and b) v small engine; also he is not actually a teen any more - due in part to the machinations of Covid he was 19 by the time he passed. He then got the car just around his 20th birthday so maybe that makes a difference.

Also I am named on the policy and her now has a year's NCB as I say. Not gonna go for the £500, tempting tho it is, as it relies on him not speeding (I mean, I presume even on the M1 - surely everyone does 75mph there) so I think it might be an OG. Still, £800 for the year is sounding good.

Cannot imagine paying £7k for a year's insurance!

I dont see how that is possible as i have been driving for years and years, the cheapest mine is costing me is 500. And i am not young.

What car tho? And is yours with a black box? The no black box quote is £300 more. This is for a 1.0L 10 year old citroen.

The excess is pretty high too - £6-700; but honestly I have multiple quotes under £1k for the year. I have been driving for more than 35 years and am named on the policy tho if that helps?

DD will be 20 in a month, also didn’t start driving until later due to Covid - no matter what car we quote for (age, brand, engine), adding me on with my NCB it’s still in the high 4 figures. Absolute nightmare

Im over 30. It's the smallest car you can drive. Less than 1l.
Ive been driving for years.. 0 no claims.

Maybe it's to do with where people live? My own insurance is about £200 icl.

mitogoshi · 10/03/2024 21:12

What insurance group is it? Is it particularly desirable? Do you live in a high crime area? What job do you do? All these factor into the price. My dd paid £670 straight after passing 2 years ago, it's now £910 as prices have risen despite her having no claims now

Mine was £290 last august renewing but it's cheap around here
