Of increasing interest is whe this election will take place? Clearly its not going to be May, but are things going to gey much better for the Tories the longer the draw this out? Surely we just get on with it.

Well it will have to be before the end of the year ,so September/October maybe?

Outofideas79 · 08/03/2024 13:04

@x2boys I thought perhaps then. The government will want to get for enough away from last winter and not too close tot the next one, and hope people forget the misery in between.

They can also do their campaigning over the summer months when parliament is traditionally in recess.

The Conservatives know they are going to lose (just a question of margin) so they may as well hang on to power as long as they can plus hope that "an event" occurs that could improve their chances.

In short I would say November which is the latest they can do.

Soon you will get to select which colour tie the Uniparty boss has.

If they haven't called one for May by 18th March, then very likely October/November.

Hasn't Sunak said today he intends for it to be the Autumn, and they are not considering a May election?

I mean, I wouldn't necessarily believe him, but it makes sense. They're losing ground all over the place at the moment so I don't think they'd call it now. They've got nothing to lose by waiting and hoping that people are happier after Summer.

@YouveGotAFastCar

"They've got nothing to lose by waiting and hoping that people are happier after Summer."

It really is a shit state of affairs that the best the Conservatives having going for their electoral chances is "a nice summer"!!!
