I had no idea which thread to put this in but I’m desperately in need of a pharmacist to help me with some questions in preparation for an exam I’ve got coming up.

Are there any floating around on MN??

Thank you!

I have a few medications a day but I find one particular brand of amlodipine really intolerable to take. I think it might be dispersible? It tastes bitter and starts to dissolve in my mouth before I get to swallow it and I have sensory issues.

my pharmacist says there’s no way to request the other brands as they only get sent what they are sent. He said I also can’t get the doctor to prescribe me a specific brand.

I really hate it and it makes me hate taking my medication every day. He was very unsympathetic Hmm

any advice??! 🙏🏻

You can absolutely get a brand prescribed if you can't tolerate the generic. Ask your GP for Istin. Alternatively find a pharmacy which will give you a preferred brand.
The pharmacy is reimbursed at a set price for the medication and will buy the most cost effective option.

That’s what I thought thank you. I prefer to support my local phamarcy and it’s right by the doctors - but I will find somewhere that can support my needs better thank you!!

Well that’s a lie. Doctors can amend prescriptions to specify a certain brand must be ordered.

I’ve been through God knows how many battles with my GP and local chemist over this issue 😬
