I'm just so miserable

Having cancer treatment and I'm waiting until the pharmacy opens at 8am as yesterday I called the chemo hotline and they prescribed a boat load of medications but the hospital pharmacy was closed and so was the one in my village.

Woke up on Monday feeling a bit rough and ready but nothing to write home about.
Tuesday couldn't get warm at all
Wednesday I spent in bed crying because my mouth hurt so much my
Thursday was even worse so I called the chemo line and I have been diagnosed with ;

Covid, flu (type B), strep C throat infection, oral thrush and vaginal thrush.

I feel horrendous. I'd say the oral thrush is the worst bit at the moment, my entire mouth is swollen and raw, it also tastes so bad, and nothing I try and eat to get rid of it works because I can't taste food.

I'm on an absolute boat load of antibiotics, antivirals and 2 types of anti fungal. It's absolutely awful. Also it's my birthday today and 100% not how I expected to spend it :(

I'm just having a pity party!

Oh sorry things aren’t going well. I hope you have some good things happen on your birthday 🎈 Maybe try watch a good film or see family and friends.

WalkingaroundJardine · 08/03/2024 06:26

Of course you should have a pity party. No wonder you feel so awful with all of that going on, including going through the cancer treatment.

Happy Birthday from an internet random.

DilemmaDelilah · 08/03/2024 06:31

Cancer treatment and the effects of it is absolute pants isn't it. I'm so sorry you are having such a horrible birthday.

All I can say (from experience) is that you won't be feeling like this for ever. It does pass and although it is probably feeling endless right now it isn't actually for that long.

I hope you feel better soon.

@WalkingaroundJardine tbh I think the cancer treatment is the cause of why I'm so sick. It's like my immune system has gone on holiday.

So sorry you are feeling like this. I hope you can get all the medication you need today and feel as well as you can. Have you got anyone to help support you at this time? MacMillan were a great extra support to some of my family members.

Another happy birthday from a ‘random’ on the internet! 💐💐

Sspholidayquery · 08/03/2024 07:07

Aww shalomm it will be a mixture of the treatment and the covid antivirals if they've given them to you. The antivirals are foul. If you can stomach it fresh or tinned pineapple will help your mouth. Eat whatever you fancy, don't try to be healthy and drink plenty of fluids. I've been there. It got better. Keep on top of your antisickness meds as well. X

takemeawayagain · 08/03/2024 07:43

Jesus OP that is shit. I found Strepsils to be a lifesaver when I had the sore throat from hell with covid. Don't know if they'd be any good for you but I hope you feel a lot better soon. Have you got anyone who could pick up the meds for you? It sounds like you really need to just be in bed and not leave it you poor thing.

determinedtomakethiswork · 08/03/2024 07:44

That is awful. You poor thing. Do you have anyone else at home with you?

Beamur · 08/03/2024 07:50

Happy Birthday.
Actually that sounds grim. I think you're entitled to a bit of self pity with all that going on.
Chemo is so hard. It really does knock you for 6.
Better days are around the corner

jackandy · 08/03/2024 07:58

That is grim. Chemo is grim. I'm so sorry.

ranoutofquinoaandprosecco · 08/03/2024 08:03

Gosh, you're totally entitled to a pity party. Did they give you the almond tasting mouthstuff? Can't remember what it's called but that was epic!
Hope you get some relief today and take it steady!

frozendaisy · 08/03/2024 08:12

Oh OP that sounds dreadful
Stay hydrated
Warm
Get bio yogurt if you can
Sleep
Recover
Let everyone look after you

LakeTiticaca · 08/03/2024 08:28

I have no advice to offer but I.. sending a virtual hug and I hope you are feeling better soon 🤗

Veryverycalmnow · 08/03/2024 08:49

If there's anything you can do to make things better today like ask a favour from a friend to bring you something or indulge in some comfort telly or food if that's an option...then I definitely think you should give yourself permission. Good luck making the best of a bad situation and maybe you could celebrate your birthday when you're feeling up to it.
