Nice cafe to visit in Stratford on Avon over easter

Me and my DM are on a coach trip to Stratford on Avon on the 3rd April (wed). We're intending to meet my DB and his wife for lunch as they live within driving distance.

Mum's birthday is on the 4th and we are getting together to celebrate and enjoy Stratford. Mum will be 87 and, after a fall last year, is not as mobile (has a stick now). We are thinking to do the Hop On Hop Off bus at some point so we can see the sights without too much walking.

For lunch we are thinking that maybe not a pub, but a cafe might be better as mum will only want a small meal, like sandwich or soup. Where do Stratford mumsnetters recommend we visit for lunch? We are there from 11 to 4:00.

Many thanks Smile.

I've heard good things about this www.thefourteas.co.uk

Another vote for the Fourteas it’s lovely.

Have a great time 😊

Hobsons, the cakes are amazing.

This is exactly where I was going to recommend! Brilliant staging. Apparently it’s a couple who met doing sets for the RSC. Also utterly fab scones.

This is also fab, but not as atmospheric as Four Teas.

Been to Hobsons, amazing

nocoolnamesleft · 07/03/2024 19:14

I've eaten at Four Teas, and thoroughly enjoyed it.

BeaRF75 · 07/03/2024 19:19

Yes, agree the FourTeas at the bottom of Sheep Street.
If you want to go fancier, you can book afternoon tea at the RSC's Rooftop Restaurant, which has great views over the river.

Immeltinnnnngggg · 07/03/2024 19:31

Fourteas isn't as good as it used to be since it changed hands.

Staff used to be dressed up etc and the food was amazing. We went last year and it was noticeably different.

Boston Tea Party is nice but in more of an everyday kind of way. The Four Teas would be more of an event for a special occasion.

Oooh, interesting Smile. I will consider that option, too (Fourteas is my current fave recommnedation).

Four Teas wasn’t great when we went at half term . Stratford Cafes can all be pretty packed but when I used to be able to take my elderly mum she liked the RSC cafe at River level as she could look at the swans and get to the toilet easily!

mummyofhyperDD · 07/03/2024 22:20

Make sure you book it can get really busy

Lovely cafe/tea shop across from Anne Hathaway’s Cottage. Delicious, home made cakes.

There is a cat cafe if that is something your mum would like? A bit different!

We are definitely a cat loving family. I will do a search and have a look online. Many thanks.

The car cafe is fun but not somewhere if recommend for lunch. It had a very limited menu ( cold sandwiches and cake) and being honest, wasn't very nice at all. But the cats are lovely!

I was considering us popping in just for a cup of tea later in the day, perhaps. It would be something different for mum to enjoy, if time permits.

Oh you might have to rethink your plans in that case? You have to pay an ' entrance fee' of sorts and book in advance. It's more an ' paid experience 'rather than a place you can just pop into for tea and a fuss with the cats unfortunately! Someone upthread mentioned Hobson cafe, that I can definitely recommend! The homemade cakes are phenomenal

I had a look at their website, it is £6 per person for a session plus costs of drinks and snacks.
