Passport photos

I think I’ve just been hate crimed, because I’ve just gone to take passport photos in a booth and every picture was worse than the one before?

Please confirm that they have gremlins working in each machine to manipulate your photo to be the ugliest possible image that might resemble you slightly. So that if you showed the passport photo that’s just been taken of you to someone who really hated you, they might point and laugh and joke about how much that looks like @doyouwantmetobethecat

Worse than that, they kept advising me my mouth was open and I needed to retake. I kept advising the gremlin, my mouth was closed. It’s just my mouth closed - arrggghhhh.

10 photo attempts and it wouldn’t let me try again. Perhaps it thought I was too ugly for a passport?? I need to do it all again Sad

I couldn’t choose a photo of a real woman to illustrate my point, so please accept this ai generated image of my self portrait.

I find I have to do almost stage make up to look good in a passport photo.

I wouldn’t mind but I actually did that 😭

That looks like a perfect passport photo 😀

If you've got an adult or co-operative teen at home, and a plain, pale wall, take it at home on your phone next time.

My younger DD is usually extremely photogenic.
Passport photos are hell. Apparently she's too pale against a white/cream background. She looks like she's high on drugs, just been arrested for multiple crimes (even at 2 years old). It somehow looks nothing like her... but obviously is her.

If you have a Max Spielmann or equivalent nearby I've found it much better to use them, they actually take your photo rather than a booth, and it was a similar cost, they also provide a digital copy which is handy.

However, the selfie I had to take quickly on a train to replace a lost railcard (was definitely in my purse on my outward journey!) makes me look like a convict.

I had the same problem, my photo I went with is horrendous. It kept saying I was looking up and rejecting it. I did a very awful over exaggerated one looking down highlighting my chins and that was accepted! I was so embarrassed getting someone to counter sign it.

Listen, there is someone inside these machines, full of hatred, to ensure you look awful. She is closely related to the one legged woman who steals single socks and stockings from your drawer and a not so distant cousin from the woman who lives inside your printer to jam the paper when you are in a hurry.

This is the most reasonable thing I’ve heard all day.

This is why I take them myself on my phone - I can have as many takes as necessary to get one that is half decent. I mean, I still look like a serial killer, obviously, but that is essential for a passport photo.

i need a new passport for the end of July - best start making photo attempts now!

Can't remember if it was passport photo or for something else, but trying to take the photo online whilst wearing varifocals was interesting because I have to tilt my head to read the instructions at which point it tells me it can't take the photo with my head tilted. Took some trial and error to get it to work by which point I didn't care what looked like.
