I work in hospitality on a team with four mums. We will be working our arses off on Sunday to give other mums a lovely day out.

My sister is a mum and a midwife, and will be working on Sunday - to help create new mums!

So here's a shout out to all the mums working this Sunday, you're the best!!! 💐💐 💐

Thank you ☺️. I'm a support worker in a children's residential care home. I'll be facilitating the young people's contact with their parents, rather than seeing my own DCs.

Hope everyone is going to stand outside and clap at 4pm on Sunday.

Working on Sunday as a carer, same as Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I will see my 3 children when my shift finishes.
I don’t mind at all but it does make me smile when relatives of the people I work with look shocked when we are there working on these days followed by “oooh I couldn’t work on Christmas day” etc

I work in manufacturing and distribution. I will be working, as usual, Saturday and Sunday 6am-6pm.

NHS, working Sunday.
My mum lives miles away and she is coming for the weekend so I'll see her on Saturday and Sunday evening. She will have to spend the day with her DGC instead of me 😂

i'm Nhs and working a long day on Sunday so 2 of my children are taking me out for brunch on Saturday, along with my mum. I'll see my other adult child on sunday evening when i get home as he still lives with me 😄

cheapskatemum · 07/03/2024 15:31

irishapple · 07/03/2024 15:32

Shout out to you mums!! I'm off this year but worked last year (essential retail), so know what it's like to work these days. We are only closed 2 days a year, so you have to take your turn at working most celebration/holiday.

As a nurse I worked many a Mothers Day so sending Flowers to those who are working this Sunday.

A couple of year's ago working a private gig at a patient's home I accompanied a lovely older woman and her three daughters to a mother's day lunch at an expensive London restaurant. What a thoughtful family - I was included in the gift giving and received toiletries, chocolates and a card in recognition that I too was a mother!

I hope you all have as great a day as you can, and a few treats when you get home! Smile

givemushypeasachance · 07/03/2024 16:50

Is mother's day more of A Thing these days than it used to be? I'm in my thirties and as a kid it was make your mum a card, maybe buy flowers. In my twenties it was send a card and maybe something like garden centre vouchers. Is it more of an event day like Christmas for most people, with mums should be treated on mother's day (and presumably dads on fathers day)?

Sadly my mum died a few years ago, so now I just get a moment of eyerolling at the 'do you want to opt out of mother's day' emails - meaning I get to hear about it all twice as much as I would otherwise!

That was very lovely of them!

I may or may not have a bottle of Prosecco waiting for me after our long day 🍾

For us it is our busiest Sunday of the year foodwise.

Father's Day isn't any busier than a normal Sunday. Sorry, dads 😊

Those emails sound irritating! Sorry for your loss.
