Books like Secret Seven but modern…? 9/10 year old

I have a 9 year old who I am struggling to find books for. He loved all the Diary of a wimpy kid books but has enjoyed little else since. We have most popular series from an older sibling. Other than the Daisy and the trouble.. series a few years ago he hasn’t really enjoyed many books.

I think he might like something Enid blyton like. The teen/child spy type ones have not appealed.

Have you looked at Michael Morpurgo books? Outlaw is a great story for keen readers.

Another vote for 'Adventures on Trains' and there is another great series called The Adventurers which is very much a modern famous 5!

Alex Bell has written a series of books where children go on adventures, The Polar Bear Explorers Club is the first one if I remember correctly. My 10 year old loved them.

The Cogheart series of books was also enjoyed, I cannot recall the author, but very well written adventures too.

Have a look at Catherine Bond. Her book The Adventures of Crocco and Mr Noodlenutt about a submersible car sounds a possible. She also has an adventure series (Moonmirror, Moonlighter and another Moon book) but they're maybe aimed at 9-12 years.

My DD loved the Polar Bear Explorers books too. Maybe the Mysterious Benedict Society books?
