Evri claim success - just in case anyone needs it!

I posted a package with Evri that was apparently damaged during transit so they threw it away. I’d paid for enhanced insurance for the package which was worth £425. The insurance and postage was just over £30.

Apparently, unless I formally transferred ownership to Evri, they are not entitled to dispose of it.

Of course when I went to claim on the insurance they said the item was excluded and only refunded me the insurance.

I submitted a small claims court claim online and agreed to mediation which Evri did not turn up to.

A court date was set for May and I started putting my evidence together, suspecting that Evri would not send a solicitor to my small town in the middle of nowhere in order to defend the claim.

sure enough, today they have emailed to settle the claim for the full amount.

This was probably an hour’s work on my behalf to recover £400 odd after court fees.

Hold the line. And don’t use Evri.

Result - Well done OP!

I wonder how many people just leave it and accept their poor service. They are a law unto themselves and trying to get in touch with anyone is nigh on impossible!

Congratulations on your success. Mostly though, we don’t have a choice in which retailers use Evri. If you’re the retailer, you can specify, of course. These days though, which of them is reliable?

Yeah, result. Sue what you’re due. Those b*s.

A very helpful post and I am very lucky/glad I came across it, so thank you. Well I'm in a bit of a pickle myself and wish to receive a compensation myself from them. As we all known Hermes are the absolute worst when it comes to customers care or delivering good. My question is, how am I able to proceed with a mediation first preferably one that is free before going to small claims court. I just hope we can settle it with mediation and no further time wasted. And if that is not possible then how do I go about taking them to small claims court which preferably is free.

I look forward to your response

Thank you!

Hello evri are an awful corriour service 4 of my parcels have mysteriously been lost i don't believe they have gone missing though. How can I take them to court can you give me some advice on which avenue to take please?

HollopingHooligans · 18/12/2024 09:36

Have you tried googling "small claims court" to find the steps you need to take? If you aren't able to do that then you probably aren't going to be able to actually follow the steps anyway tbh.
