First adult passport

Is is possible to get a first adult passport quickly please? The passport site is really confusing me as my daughter has a child passport but needs her first adult. I can't figure out whether she is eligible to make an appointment for a one week passport. Can anyone advise please? Flowers

Yes as she already has a passport - you just apply for a renewal even if going from child to adult.
as long as you still have the ppt (not lost) you can book the FasTrack service

Really?! That's amazing, thank you so much!

Yes, it's a stupidly confusing website. It is just a standard renewal. had this with my eldest last year.

It is confusing because it says it can’t be used for ‘first adult passport’ it means people who have never had a ppt - they generally have to go for an interview.
however your daughter has a ppt so it’s just a renewal - albeit child to adult.
hope you can get an appointment!

One of my DC has just done this - renewing child passport to first adult.

Online application made and old passport posted last Tuesday. Notification arrived yesterday that it should be delivered today.

Thanks all, I thought it was just me being thick and not understanding the website!

Sorry to jump onto this thread late, but a child's passport is valid until the expiry date, even if the child passes their 16th birthday. You do not need to renew until the expiry date.

@FlibbertyJibbet55 i just got my renewed passport. my old one expired in 2021. the new one arrived in 6 working days!!!!

Just to update, I realised it would be quite tricky attending an appointment so took the risk of normal online applications. One arrived in 4 days, the other two in 9 Smile

Do you need to have it countersigned if going from child to adult passport?

Pedagogue54 · 31/05/2024 06:59

You are renewing a passport rather than applying for a first passport. Unless the child's appearance has changed dramatically (facial disfigurement, surgery etc) you follow the procedure for renewing a passport; this does not require anyone to confirm the child's identity. If you are applying online you submit a digital photograph.

I did DSs recently but went to the post office. They do it all for you for a small fee, it took about 10 days in total to arrive and that was with someone confirming his identity.

Dappy55 · 31/05/2024 07:07

I did the post office digital one, no identity confirmation (they do it) and the passport was printed on his 16th birthday. If your DD is already 16 then it will be even quicker, probably within a week.

@Totallybannanas yes we had to. Reading others replies not sure why we had to though
