Just found out I am pregnant after miscarriage with no period in between!

I’m worried about any increased risk of back to back without a period, like hope my womb lining is adequate to maintain a pregnancy. I don’t know if there are any increased risk of miscarrying again. I’m mid twenties with no underlying conditions that I know of and conceived first cycle both times.

Has anyone done the same and did all go well with you and your baby? It’s literally 3wks and 6 days exactly since my MC. Thank you

Welllllll....

They are a grumpy sweaty hormonal teen so maybe not the best to ask!

Back then the miscarriage association said it was ok

sciencemama · 06/03/2024 08:02

This happened to me, fell pregnant straight away after a miscarriage but didn't actually realise until I was 14wks... yeah I know bizarre how I missed the first trimester but I had no weight gain no sickness and I have pcos so I had periods as such.
Healthy 6 year old here... no complications in the womb or birth!

marplemead · 06/03/2024 08:09

This happened to me. Straightforward pregnancy and birth. He's a healthy 2yo now 🙂

Yep me too and he turned 13 yesterday! Hope it will all be ok for you

Happened to me-deliberately tried as there were a number of articles about no longer waiting 3 months to try again and new research. Was successful for me (she’s my 3rd child/4th pregnancy and is in first year of secondary 🥰), and also was successful for my sister after her 2nd miscarriage a few months earlier than mine.

Itsachange · 06/03/2024 08:41

There is no increased risk.
The old advice to wait was so that they could properly date any new pregnancy.

I hope it goes well OP.

TheBirdintheCave · 06/03/2024 08:41

There's no medical reason that it won't be a successful pregnancy. I think the only reason people are advised to wait is for dating purposes.

I conceived this baby straight after a week four miscarriage with no period in between and am currently 30 weeks.

anywherehollie · 06/03/2024 08:46

I had a mc and ovulated 2 weeks later, the result is my 10 year old son. No period or any bleeding in between. Pregnancy was straight forward no issues!

Saymyname28 · 06/03/2024 08:51

That's how my DS was conceived, he grew perfectly, completely uncomplicated pregnancy.

WingingIt09 · 06/03/2024 08:51

My pregnancies directly after miscarriage are now healthy at 4yo (2nd child/3rd pregnancy) and 10month olds (3rd child/7th pregnancy)

Alwaysalwayscold · 06/03/2024 08:53

The same happened to me last year and I'm currently holding my baby!

BusySittingDown · 06/03/2024 09:01

The old advice was to wait but it was only so that they could date the pregnancy.

When I miscarried, ooh almost 18 years ago now, they told me to wait a cycle. I did not want to wait! I did end up having a period in between (which was soul destroying) but ended up conceiving the next month (yay!) so happy ending, she's now nearly 17, WTF?!?

Congratulations, wishing you a healthy, happy pregnancy and sending you lots of love and luck 🍀 for a lovely baby.

TwistedSisters · 06/03/2024 09:21

Yes as above posters , there is no increased risk , just the pregnancy is easier to date.

Happened to me , he's 5 in a couple of weeks 😁.

Good luck!

catherinewales · 06/03/2024 09:23

Happened to me. My gp told me getting pregnant straight away was ok and no different to waiting for a period. I didn't plan on getting pregnant straight away it just happened. I have a healthy 8 year old boy now xx

mindutopia · 06/03/2024 09:38

You're very fertile after a miscarriage. It sounds perfectly fine. I got pregnant with my youngest (now 6) the cycle after my mc (so I did have a period in between), but my cycle re-started as day 1 of the mc and I ovulated bang on 14 days later and got period on day 28, so I could have gotten pregnant straight away if I'd wanted to (I didn't). Most mc's are random events, just one of those things unfortunately, and it won't mean you are at any greater risk next time around. I had a textbook straightforward pregnancy and birth with mine. Congrats!

Concestor · 06/03/2024 09:40

There's no increased risk, they just tell you to wait so they can date the pregnancy more easily.

I got pregnant straight after a miscarriage and she's 14 now. No issues at all.

Shortandfat · 06/03/2024 09:41

Yes, both my younger ones were conceived immediately after miscarriage. I believe the extra progesterone in your system is supportive of new pregnancy. Anyway they are both teens now.

DoubleBingo · 06/03/2024 09:47

Congratulations op 😊 my ds is nearly 9, conceived immediately after a miscarriage. Sending you lots of positive thoughts, take care

Dcmummy1 · 15/01/2025 17:58

Hi sorry to jump on this old post - anyone that commented, how did the Dr’s/midwives date your pregnancy without a last period x thank you

Did you track your ovulation at all?

I had a miscarriage over 7 weeks ago and still no period. I have done a couple of tests when my period was next due but they were negative. I am now on cycle day 52 and still no period.

TheCountofMountingCrispBags · 11/05/2025 13:47

The 'waiting' was also recommended for time to grieve for the lost baby and to prevent you from being 'overwhelmed' by hormones.

Pashazade · 11/05/2025 15:23

Yup exact thing happened to me. Happy and healthy teenager here.

mathanxiety · 12/05/2025 02:44

Happened to me too. Everything went well. DC now 26.

Apparently it's not at all unusual.

mathanxiety · 12/05/2025 02:45

Dating was done by ultrasound.
