Adult fancy dress ideas

Not world book day related, but my DH and I have been invited to a big birthday party in the summer and the fancy dress theme is 'books', so any character or object or interpretation!
I love fancy dress and haven't been to a party with my DH for 3 years (babies) but the theme is so broad and I'm stuck. Looking for ideas for myself though we could do a couples one if it was good. I usually like to go a bit 'out there' and it doesn't have to be easy - happy to make an effort!
So far I've thought of lord of the rings Galadrieal (basically just the dress) or Elle Woods from Legally Blonde ( pink skirt suit and pretend dog, do the bend and snap every 5 mins), Cruella.
Please give me your suggestions!

Bridget Jones is a nice easy one - see through top, miniskirt, black tights with a pair of knickers stuck to one leg, fag, diary, bottle of Chardonnay.

@ElizabethVonArnim thanks, that's a great idea! Bottle of chardonnay with me at all times will make my friends laugh - I do love a Chardonnay!

From your suggested list OP- I don't know any of those characters other than Cruella. Do you have any physical attributes you could play on? Both tall, one tall one short, both larger size?
eg If larger, shrek and his wife, Tweedle dee and tweedle dumb
One small one tall- Peter pan and tinker bell?

Does it need to be a character from a book? What about as actual books? Kindles?

Something saucy like Fifty shades of grey. You can play the male character and put DH in some lingerie 😆

Twin set. Pearls. Tweed skirt. Sensible shoes. Glasses. You are a librarian.

[& BTW I'm married to one before anyone says I'm promoting a stereotype.]

Surely after this week in social media news it has to be.....

.....Willie Wonka and "The Unknown".

Ok, so here's my ideas for books related fancy dress.
Go as an actual book with actual pages, perhaps even with the theme of your friend who invited you - print off photographs, with a few words and headlines etc??

Go as a wardrobe- open the wardrobe doors inside there's narnia ( lion witch wardrobe)

Go as a shelf with loads of different books on

50 shades of grey ... go half dressed as the smart timid girl, then half as the raunchy minx ( same for male character)

Go as a typewriter and the other as miss marple ( even funnier if the man dressed up like her)

Where's Wally?

Great ideas everyone, thanks so much!
I have an inkling the birthday girl is going as a librarian though I might try to find out as I love that.
@DSD9472 that is making me feel so old and I'm only 32. I really thought everyone had at least heard of Legally Blonde ( I'm no Rees Witherspoon mind you!) Thanks for your - suggestions I like the Tinkerbell idea.
Love the wardrobe idea thanks @BannnnaSplit

OP- I didn't mean to make you feel old.
I meant I have no clue who Galadrieal (basically just the dress) or Elle Woods are or their characters. I have likely seen them in films, but legally blonde was 23yrs ago! I'd have no idea whether you looked like the character or not. 😬
