Would you ever post something on here that you wouldn’t want to share IRL?

I’ve posted as I liked under various usernames about all sorts of topics but I stopped and thought the other day, and wondered if there would or could ever be a data leak where people’s identities are revealed? I might just be being paranoid here of course!

I have a work query and want to ask it on here for an objective sounding board, but I feel wronged by something a colleague has done and if it somehow ever got back to my work I would be really embarrassed that I posted online about work. It’s a minor difference of opinion and not even that serious but more I wouldn’t want it linking to my other threads or work somehow knowing my usernames on here.

Am I safe to post as I want or would you never fully trust it?

Never fully trust it!

I have recognised people on here. I have been recognised on here. I am on one thread that if anyone knows me IRL would know it is me. Otherwise i change user names and change details.

Plus you must know many of these threads are lifted wholesale and put onto other fora including various newspapers.

I never fully trust it. There have been data breaches in the past here, as there have probably been on many large talk forums, and I wouldn't share anything online that I wouldn't want people in my real life to know about just in case I was ever doxxed.

Never trust that you won't be recognised. The media do trawl through here and publish threads.

I put nothing on here that matters in real life. Nothing you put online on forums such as these or social media is ever truly private and it is foolish to think otherwise.

I also remember the data breaches on here. They do happen. Put up nothing that would matter if read or discovered by people you know.

Wouldn't trust it at all!
I've seen posts taken from here and put on Facebook and national newspaper websites so even if someone doesn't use Netmums they could come across it on other platforms.
Even changing user names doesn't help in my opinion.

I can see why people change details, then you get people AS and say 'aha, that's not what you said before'
