Team energiser - ideas please!

Hello!

I have the unfortunate task of coming up with a team energiser for our full day team meeting next week.

Does anyone have any weird and wonderful ideas? It can be completely out of the box. I categorically do not want to do heads & tails/dancing or anything else like that.

Please help! I absolutely hate these things, hence my desire to do something semi-different.

Thanks all

Talk us through this. WTF is a "team energiser"? Sounds utterly grim.

I can practically guarantee that if you hate the idea, so d most if not all people attending. And weird and wonderful ideas will make it worse.

How many people? We did Rock Paper Scissors. Start playing in pairs and the winner then plays with another winner - continue til there are two players for the final. The energising twist is that each loser has to join the support team of the person they lost to - noisily encouraging them in their next match. Then the winner of that match inherits the loser and whoever supported them, as members of their own support team. The support teams grow as more rounds are played. Continue until there are two players left and each player has half the attendees whooping them on in the final.

It doesn't take very long and you need space to move around.

Is a team energiser different from an ice breaker? Does it have to involve something physical?

So I've played a couple 'games' as part of work things before. One of them was to bring in a baby photo and we then had to work as a team to guess who was who. It sounds like such a horrible baby shower game, but it was actually quite nice as it gave a glimpse into people in a way I didn't know them strictly within work.

I've also had people bring in a photo of something that says something about themselves. And then go around the room and explain why they chose that photo and what it represents for them.

I realise both of these are photo related! But maybe I'm quite a visual person.

It is as grim as it sounds.

We have a full day team meeting and it's a way to break up the day so everyone isn't staring at a screen for hours on end.

Toot that tune?

Give them all the day off, will make everyone happy.

We had one recently where we were all given a word (memory, concert, album, pet, holiday...) and had to speak about our firsts. Some took a few seconds, others several minutes.

I can guarantee too that everyone will hate it. But what the boss wants, the boss gets. I am a mere minion.

This is a great idea! Thank you

Surely everyone hates this stuff. Why not just crack on with whatever you're there for and use the time allocated for the 'team energiser' to finish early.

Also, free food helps, along with frequent breaks to help maintain focus.

Don't do silly games or other nonsense activities.

MrsBennetsPoorNerves · 06/03/2024 09:51

Two truths and a lie works well.

Never have I ever is also good and gets people moving.

Calculuses · 06/03/2024 09:54

My boss has started with a "cocktail party" a few times. I hated the idea, but it works pretty well. You put 3 chatty/get to know you questions on the board, they find (or are allocated) a partner and each asks the other one of the questions. After 5 minutes you move round and find another partner.
