Worried if this could be scarlet fever

There are cases of scarlet fever at my ds school. Ds has had a bit of a cough the past two days and tonight said his throat hurt. His tongue is also a bit whiter than usual.
He has no rash but do you think I should contact the dr tomorrow or wait to see if he feels unwell or develops a rash?
He seems fine in himself.

Tongue would typically be bright red - strawberry tongue.

DS had scarlet fever during the recent outbreak Xmas 2022. Was fine, antibiotics did the job. We still went on our Xmas trip as by that point he was non contagious.

Contact your GP because it is very contagious.

My DS had a mild case but couldn't go to school/childcare.
