Yes it’s me and my car again 🤣

I’m so bloody indecisive! Narrowed it down to three possibilities… these are the exact cars - the Fiat is newer and lower running costs but think I love the Minis more. All are a similar price, similar insurance costs (surprising) and can be delivered to my house (given I’m car less right now).

The green I thought was really unusual but it actually says it’s grey and doing a Google of grey metallic minis shows up a huge range between khaki and genuine grey! Is it the lighting?! 🤷‍♀️

I’d go for the fiat - I find soft top cars noisier on the motorway and it drives me nuts!

Theres also the worry of security and vandalism to the soft top when they’re parked.

I didn’t think of either of those aspects! Tbh though it will be mostly an around town car with <30 miles a week on the motorway. Will also be parked on the driveway 90% of the time

Just checking you don't have kids cus they are all not practical with kids.

I'd go fiat, more things to go wrong with the soft top.

Got to be the Mini. Much better safety rating and that alone would be the clincher for me. Also just an all round nicer drive, better build, nicer car. Easy choice. I was between the 500 or the Mini too so I say all that based on my own research when buying mine.

sleepyscientist · 04/03/2024 22:03

My mini is the same age/generation as those, it's just gone onto 30k and mini want 5-7k to fix it.

I've had two and BMW's won't be buying another they are using a Citroen engine which is poor quality and the fuel pumps (known BMW issue) have gone from 1k to 2k.

Currently waiting to see if BMW will authorise it as a gesture of good will.

Atleast the fiat although prone to problems is cheap to fix. Honestly as a daily driver I would look at Toyota or Kia (7year warranty).

Minimink · 04/03/2024 22:05

I've had both of those cars and would pick the Fiat. Minis are expensive to fix!

NamelessGhoul · 04/03/2024 22:05

I’ve also owned both Mini and 500 and for me mini wins hands down.

Chewbecca · 04/03/2024 22:06

I have a Fiat 500 and am very happy with it (I do low mileage, town driving, tight parking, mainly just 1 or 2 of us) but I do like the look of that green mini.

IvorTheEngineDriver · 04/03/2024 22:07

Both are fine until they go wrong. A Mini will cost a lot more to fix than a Fiat (at least in my experience).

NoddyfromToytown · 04/03/2024 22:09

@Hercisback no, no kids and won’t be having any

I’ve had both cars before and did much prefer the mini (I wrote it off because of some idiot… gutted) but obviously can afford a much newer Fiat (2 years vs 4-5 years)

I like the last mini, I loved my mini clubman. The colour is lovely, it definitely looks more green than grey!

NoddyfromToytown · 04/03/2024 22:58

PS: if anyone has a T code let me know haha

Can you afford/get an extended warranty policy for the mini? That would determine if I got another mini again, otherwise I'd have to be a millionaire to risk it.

It’s 22 months the one I’ve seen

The white mini.

I've driven both the fiat am mini as rental cars and the mini is in a different league as a car.

That said re: the mini I'd go for the 3dr version rather than the convertible.

On colour - the white with the black stripes and black alloys just looks better imho and probably more so when the roof is up.

I think the greenish one looks a bit meh in comparison.

That said between them there's wider considerations re: mileage/condition etc.

Regardless, definitely a mini.
