Horrible, horrible scammers - text from San|tander

I knew it was a scam and of course I didn't click on their link (dialling code Japan) but they could really upset someone, couldn't they?

Of course I checked current, savings, cc but do I need to report it anywhere? I'm not with Santander let alone a San|tander

What did it say?

It was this. Even though I'm not with them I still went and checked

Unfortunately there will be vulnerable people out there who will believe this is genuine

I know, it could even be a clumsy finger by mistake. They're probably mass generated/untraceable but I phoned my friend with Santander and said to ignore any texts.

Forward the text to 7726 (spells spam). All the phone companies work together and will block the number if enough people report it.

What would happen if you clicked it? Can they literally infiltrate your phone that way? Aren't iPhones fairly well protected?

I fell for a shopping scam recently and have noticed a huge spike in junk calls so I'm fairly sure my details have been sold on. But I haven't had any financial issues (that I'm aware of yet).

SheepAndSword · 04/03/2024 19:51

@bumblingbee23 really don't know but it irritates me for some reason! We get enough junk and spam in other areas of life, I wasn't expecting a text
