What’s your chippy order?

Busy clubs night here so always pick up food from the chippy after.

What do you normally have?
How much is an order of regular fish and chips at your local?
It’s £12 for a medium cod and chips here 😳

OP posts:
WhateverMate · 04/03/2024 17:18

£11 for cod and chips here and there's never any difference in size between the medium cod and the large.

I normally get a burger or kebab from my chippy but if I want something cheap and quick, I get saveloy and chips.

A 'small' chips is £2.50 and stupidly large though. I'd rather pay £1.50 for a little tray or something.

Midnlghtrain · 04/03/2024 17:21

£12.95 for a large haddock and chips! But it's bloody delicious.

I normally get fish, chips and mushy peas. Salt only, no vinegar (horrid stuff) and a can of pop. Best eaten sat a 1 minute walk away on the beach.

Hakunatomato · 04/03/2024 17:24

Cod, chips, and scraps. £12 from Nemos in Penge. Lush

AmyAimee · 04/03/2024 17:29

Chips and gravy, bit of salt and lashings of vinegar. Can of ice cold coke to wash it all down with 🤤

Queijo · 04/03/2024 17:30

Cod, chips, curry sauce and so much salt and vinegar it makes my lips hurt. Costs £10 here. Fat coke to drink always!

Northernsouloldies · 04/03/2024 17:41

Jumbo haddock supper, chicken fillet supper delivered £25.

Stroganoff88 · 04/03/2024 17:41

Always share chips.
Usually me and dh have chips to share and a battered sausage each. I do like fish and chips but save that for on the beach.
Dd has small cheesy chips

caringcarer · 04/03/2024 17:44

I buy foster son fish and chips and it's £12.75 where I go. I don't have it as too many calories especially with the batter but I do really like fish.

TheHorneSection · 04/03/2024 17:45

Steak and kidney pie, share chips with younger DS, mushy peas. If we’re eating at home I’ll make gravy too.

EternalSunshine19 · 04/03/2024 17:45

Battered sausage and chips. I live in london so i stay away from fish and the add-ons that i like (Mushy peas, tartar sauce, a wolly or pickled onion) too expensive

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/03/2024 17:45

£7 special, fish chips sausage with mushy peas, salt and vinegar and scraps.

Thecomfortador · 04/03/2024 17:47

I'll have cod and chips with curry sauce and some of that tartare sauce of it's available. Not sure of the price but similar to OP I think. And fizzy vimto or dandelion and b to bring.

FloralQuestions · 04/03/2024 17:48

Medium cod, small chips, curry sauce (plenty of salt and vinegar).

RicherThanYew · 04/03/2024 17:49

£5.95 here gets you a large box of chips, one side and 2 fish bites (they're massive). Rhondda Valleys 😁 if it's Friday I'll have that but otherwise its a steak pie with chips and gravy (6.95, massive size again).

Lotyw · 04/03/2024 17:52

Large haddock supper (£7.20) sometimes with mushy peas

RicherThanYew · 04/03/2024 17:53

@Fooshufflewickjbannanapants Your post has brought back lovely memories of walking to the chippy a mile away from my secondary school so my best pal could have her crispy scraps for lunch (sounds weird to folk who've not had scraps!)

BarelyLiterate · 04/03/2024 17:57

Cod & large chips, peas & onion rings. Plenty for the two of us to share, and it costs around £17. Leicestershire.

It’s crazy how much prices have risen. It doesn’t seem that long ago that we got change from a tenner for our order.

SomersetTart · 04/03/2024 17:58

'Scraps' are called scrumps in Bristol.
I'll have Clarks pie and chips please.

Fish & chips £13 here.

BigFatLiar · 04/03/2024 18:00

Fooshufflewickjbannanapants · 04/03/2024 17:45

£7 special, fish chips sausage with mushy peas, salt and vinegar and scraps.

Similar price here though I'd have curry sauce.

Fridaysgirl17 · 04/03/2024 18:00

It's €14 50 for a fish & chips here (Ireland), my order is different depending on chippy usually a chicken burger with a curry cheese chip or a chicken fillet burger with a regular chip or taco chip & chicken wings

FionnulaTheCooler · 04/03/2024 18:00

Battered half pizza supper with Irn Bru to wash it down. Special fish if I fancy a change.

SomersetTart · 04/03/2024 18:00

@FionnulaTheCooler Why is the fish special?

SquireMcDoll · 04/03/2024 18:00

Ours doesn't sell cod, only haddock which is fine by me, costs are individual although there are meal deals etc. Haddock is £6.05, chips are £2.70. As we are 4 adults we get 4 haddock, 3 chips, Dh gets mushy peas, Ds1 gets curry sauce. Total cost £35.50. Now I want that for dinner but will instead make the planned meatballs.

StrictlyAFemaleFemale · 04/03/2024 18:01

I normally get the kids version because the portions are so big. So cod tail and chips for me. It is a real treat when visiting the UK!

JennyGracexx · 04/03/2024 18:03

Chips and curry and either a cheese and onion pie or a pea fritter 🤤🤤
