So drunk I've just been really sick

I'm 33 and am married to a decent man. Unfortunately, despite all his merits, I am not very attracted to him at the moment. Probably because we have two very young children and sex is a very low priority for me. I posted a thread about it under a different name a few days ago, but didn't really get any replies. I wrote about how I always get drunk before I have sex with him. He doesn't pressure me in any way, but he's a good man and he deserves a good wife.

Anyway I've just had sex with him and then been very very sick, because of how much alcohol I drank beforehand. This isn't normal, is it?

He's been very nice about it all - I have indeed had a tough day with the kids and made myself a couple of drinks to help me relax once they'd gone to bed.

This all happens a couple of times per week. Not sure why I'm posting this, but it's not normal really is it?

Poor you that sounds really hard.
drinking to numb sex isn’t healthy and drinking until you are sick is hard in your body and on you.
what do think a ‘good wife’ is? Be kind to yourself x

Might be easy to say but why are you drinking so much?

SoftFluffySocks · 03/03/2024 22:10

No definitely not normal.

What does a good wife mean to you?

CherrySocks · 03/03/2024 22:13

What do you drink? How much did you drink? Was it more than maybe two glasses of wine?

LauderSyme · 03/03/2024 22:24

No, it's not normal and it all sounds miserable for you. I do think there is more than one thing going on here. The drinking and the not wanting sex at the moment and the not fancying your husband are all separate things I think, though obviously related.

Was it really only two drinks earlier to help you relax? They must have been quadruple Long Island Iced Teas to make you so sick! Your emotional turmoil might not be helping though.

If you're drinking to excess several times a week and feeling reliant on it, you may well be an alcoholic. When I realised I was one I went to my GP and was signposted to help and support.

If you were so drunk that you were sick I doubt you would be able to write a post so coherently. The sickness may be from anxiety, do you have the funds to see someone about it?

Good username, get a grip.

If you’re drinking so much you throw up a couple of times a week you’re well on the way to having a drinking problem.

Beezknees · 04/03/2024 07:18

It's not normal, I'm sorry.

Hoglet70 · 04/03/2024 07:23

I'd say being sick after 2 drinks is your biggest problem!

@Revelatio agree about the typing!

Ugh. Good morning 🙈

I didn't have a couple of drinks, I was drinking coke and kept adding vodka (looking at the bottle, about 200ml). Reading my post, I have no idea how I wrote so coherently either! I think being so sick might have sobered me up.

Anyway I feel like a right idiot this morning, and yes I do need to grow up (and sort out the underlying issues)

Thanks for the replies x
