Cost of the movers for moving house

I’m totally out of the loop with costs, whenever we’ve moved previously we’ve managed ourselves with man + van types and last time we moved from a small property to a large home and we’ve lived here and grown possessions for years.

obviously it varies from house to house and amount of stuff and how far you move etc etc. But what’s the rough price to get movers to take boxes + furniture compared to paying for a packing + moving service? I wouldn’t have a clue and could do with a v v rough idea

South East here. Moved 20 miles last year. Low - medium amount of stuff in 4 bed house was £2400 for the full 'I don't even really have to clear up the breakfast things' service

Brilliant thank you! That’s cheaper than I would have thought, especially for the south east.

I think paying for packing is a necessity! Save yourself the aggro. Though if you do not 'clear up the breakfast things' be prepared for them to pack up the half eaten eggs and dirty cereal bowls as they are!

Moved a 4 bed house a couple of miles down the road last year.
Cheap NE area.
Self packing was 950. Them packing was 1400.
And we didn't take the cheapest quote - there was a chance that DH was going to becaway, and I took a dislike to the cheap guy, and refused to give him the work.

I moved from London to Bristol and it was around 2K for the travel and packing everything and then rebuilding furniture

It really made me laugh how they'd like wrap the fruit bowl or similar up. These people are machines it was amazing to watch

Very full 4 bed house a short distance with full packing service 3K. Took 2 lorries, all DHs crap! We're moving again soon and he can't understand why I think he needs to start emptying the loft, the majority of which moved into the house with us and has never been used....

Essex/London border just over 2 years ago, going from a 3 bed house, one child, 1 mile away cost us around £2,300 including the packing service. I think it would have been about 600 less without packing. Worth every single penny, the guys were brilliant and we gave a good tip after.
