Following on from the thread about the mischief we got up to as a child, what was your best day out without an adult ?
I grew up in the 7os and had a lot of freedom, off roaming the town or the beach with nothing more than a bottle of squash. My best day was when i was 8 and my friend and i got on the bus to a town 6 miles up the coast. We had planned, plotted and saved our pennies for weeks. We were up and off early that morning, we put our swimsuits on under our dresses and off we set. Nobody took any notice as we got on the bus and headed north to the next but one town. We had a great day morning playing in the sea, a lady next to us on the beach gave us a sandwich and a biscuit from her children picnic, after told her we were sisters and our mum was at work and we had nobody to look after us. After drying off we played on the swings then shared an ice lolly. We wandered around the shops pretending we were grown ups, it was great to make our own decisions about where to go next. We were back home just a few minutes late and our parents never knew where we had been. We were savvy enough to know to look after each other, to go to the loo together and take it in turns to be lookout. We knew to go to the lost children centre on the beach or the police station if we were scared but we weren't we loved it and planned our next adventure.
What was your best adult free time ?

Early 80s have many memories of days exploring woodlands, hills and a river near where I lived.

Late 80s as teens skivving off school and spending hours exploring Edinburgh (nearest city)

Best was wild camping mist weekends (and I mean wild) aged about 15 either just sleeping bags, booze, candles, and a ghetto blaster

DinnaeFashYersel Sounds fantastic, Our drink of choice was Merrydown cider because it was all we could afford.
