appeal for school or waiting list

Hi all .
my son did grammar exams got 330 for stretford grammar and st ambrose 320. we endup appeal for stretford grammar and was successfully. b
but before we could get results for appeal we had to filling in school choices . we put 1st st ambrose College and 2. stretford grammar. we got results he is offered st ambrose College. but we want stretford grammar as we live in manchester M15 .
The reason ddnt put stretford grammar first because weren't sure the appeal would be successful pass.
1.what do we need to put when write for appeal to Local council get stretford grammar . do we write to Local council or authorities
2 how do we put on waiting list for stretford grammar..do we need write to both stretford grammar and Local authorities or council

Oh no - what a shame. I would call the council admissions tomorrow and ask for some advice.

Basically you need to accept the place you've been offered and get on the waiting list for the other school and hopefully you'll get a slot.

Thanks already accepted the school offered..and put him on waiting list for the other one.. just wondering if worth go thro appeal.. as I got 1st choice

Why not go through the appeal? There’s nothing to lose as you have a back up place. Hopefully your DS will get it on the waiting list before any appeal anyway. You could ring the school and see where he is on the waiting list

I ddnt know u could ring the school know which position he is , at waiting list. I will do that ..thanks for this information.

also yes he is definitely on waiting list because we emailed the school and trafford admissions. both replied he is in waiting list..so just matter of waiting nw..

yes we going write appeal too. as support said nothing to lose I agree too.
we did appeal for his results b4 and was successfully..so never know fingers crossed.

Unfortunately I think you misunderstood how the equal preference part of admissions work. You could have listed Stretford first even if you didn't know the outcome of the appeal. If you didn't get Stretford, you would have still got Ambrose. They don't take into account whether you listed a school first, second when allocating places, other than to decide which place to give you if you are eligible for more than one school.

I would make sure you are on the waiting list and see what the appeal deadline is. If you are fairly high on the waiting list, then that might work out for you and an appeal might not be necessary.

Hi all, I'm just updating.. my son has been offered a place at Stretford Grammar today..so the waiting list started moving today..Thanks God my son, happy now.

my advice to anyone goes through this this year, 2024, after results out in October.

1. if your child or children have chances to appeal, just do the appeal. Don't listen to people saying it's not worth it..

2nd while awaiting for appeal resulting. when filling out the local council application form, please please put your favourite school 1st choice, then 2nd favourite, and on on.. even though u don't know the results for appeal yet.

3rd after get school results on 1st March..and didn't get school u put 1st as ur choice..please please ring the school straight away put the child on waiting list ..
mean all school need them get in put them on waiting list..u end up get one

4th The waiting list starts moving after the Easter holidays. just need be waiting patiently

Just want to know if kid gets 330 and non pupil premium. Is there a still chance to get success review ? May I know your case please? Did you come under any special categories
