I bought something quite expensive from Argos on Monday 26th February for same day delivery time went by didn’t receive order.

17.52pm received a text saying order out for delivery between 4pm and 6pm

checked the tracking saying on the Argos website ‘ you’ve received me already’

I contacted Argos that night and explained the situation said they will open an investigation check cctv and interview the driver

now it’s been nearly 7 days since then

has anyone had this experience seems like it’s the drivers word against mine I paid with my debit card feel like I’m going to get knocked off with this

Contact your bank and ask to raise a chargeback for 'goods not received'.

What proof do Argos have that they delivered? If they haven't got any then I would assume they can't keep your money?

Happyandglorious98 · 03/03/2024 10:07

Well it showed up delivered on Monday so something has happened it’s went missing and the driver hasn’t delivered it

so my word against his .

im sure he would have told them it’s delivered

If you raise a chargeback, the onus will be on Argos to show it was delivered, which clearly they won't be able to do, so you should get your money back though it may take a few weeks.

Is there any proof @Happyandglorious98 - a photo or similar? They can't just say it was delivered, they'll need a photograph or a signature etc.

As others have said, the onus is on Argos to prove they have delivered to where you requested. They won’t be able to do that.

Is there another address that’s similar to yours that it could have been delivered to you? We had that happen - same address but we are Avenue, they are Lane. Not that it’s your responsibility to find it but if you do know of anything then it might speed up your case with them.

If you don’t hear anything by tomorrow, I’d start a chargeback too. The only thing with chargebacks, I believe, is that the merchant can dispute them..not saying they will but that’s why it might be an idea to check out things like being sent to a different address - just so you have proof, if needed.

You could also try and escalate it to their CEO..they usually have an Exec office who respond in their behalf.

I work for argos. The driver will get interviewed and they take photos on their pods .

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 03/03/2024 10:29

@Happyandglorious98 if the driver has no proof of delivery then you should be able to get your money back.

Hello I have had the exact same issue with Argos now unbelievably on 2 separate orders/occassions on the first occasion they hadn't taken any proof of delivery whatsoever which is absolutely astonishing and I have NEVER heard of NO proof of delivery whatsoever to be quoted honest but again this week it has happened again after I requested after the last time that a note was added to my account to ensure proof of delivery being of my front door my door number and myself as a picture for proof of delivery to prevent the same situation happening again to yet again to my absolute astonishment the proof of delivery is a photo of the items downstairs just inside my communal door as you can imagine how unbelievable I have found this please do not worry about loosing your money they seem to be absolutely incompetent with home delivery and you will surely receive your money back by the sound of your circumstances, good luck and I would advise AVOID Argos home delivery at all costs from now on I now use click and collect with fantastic experience and no issues whatsoever that's definitely the way to go
