Can I use slow cooker to reheat?

Hi I’ve just bought a slow cooker. I made a casserole last night and there was a portion left in the pot. I refrigerated it, so now can I just put it back on to reheat the casserole and for how long should I cook it for please. Also any hints and tips for use would be greatly appreciated. Tia 💐

A microwave or saucepan would probably be much simpler and safer in terms of food safety.

I wouldn't. You need to reheat food fast for safety.

It's just one portion. Probably take a few minutes to heat up and it's done or stick it in the microwave.

Yes probably would be better in the microwave but it’s beef and I don’t want it to go hard! Thamks@hedgehoglurker for your answer

Add a little extra water, cover and warm up at less than full power - 60-80% or so. A full power reheat would likely make it tougher.

No - don't use the slow cooker.

If you refrigerated it once you'd cooked it, then it's a simple matter to reheat. Just put it in a small saucepan and gently bring it up to the boil. Turn it down to a soft simmer and simmer it for a couple of minutes. You're re-heating rather than cooking it.

Ok thanks, well that’s a definite no then. Thought I was being so clever 🤣
