Were you bullied? Did it affect your choice to have kids?

I had a bad experience of senior school, bullied by a few and generally treated like pond scum by everyone popular. This was largely due to various physical characteristics that any DC would likely inherit.

I had some friends and not every day was 100% appalling, but overall I hated school and was scared and humiliated regularly.

It has made me really worried about potentially having kids as I can’t stand the idea of them going through the same, dreading going to school for years. Almost like it would be irresponsible to have kids and put them through it as they’d surely be quite similar to me physically.

I want to know if anyone can relate: if you were bullied, did it affect your decision to have kids or not? If you did have kids, are they doing ok? Is senior school a nicer environment than the 90s?

I was bullied dreadfully when at school. I vowed that the same would never happen to my children.

My DC have been bought up to be confident, assured and kind. So far, they've not been bullied and have a great group of friends. They're 14 and 9.

You are beautiful inside as well as out and don't let anyone tell you different. If you want children have them they are a joy. Schools are worse today because of social media in the 90's you could escape back to where you feel safe and away from bullying. Now young people are stuck on their phones posting and taking pictures of rubbish. You can homeschool if you want there is loads of resources you can use on the internet and buy curriculum packs for year groups.
