Please can you help me choose between these two beds?

I’ve narrowed it down to these two. Not much difference in price. The material of the one on the left is a linen material and the one on the right is a brushed velvet. It’s for my daughter’s bedroom. I’m getting her a small double. I’m finding it really hard to decide. My mum thinks the one on the right is a bit dated.

I agree the one on the right looks dated-reminds me of the one my parents had when I was a child. I like the one on the left.

As a side, are you having drawers in it for storage and what company is it from? Currently looking for a bed too.

I agree with your mother, and I might consider non-fabric options, too, for several reasons. Durability, keeping it clean, age of the child (for keeping it clean).

The brushed velvet would be a no for me in those colours especially

Thank you so much! I’ve just ordered the one on the left. The beds are from Next. It’s an ottoman bed so plenty of storage.

How old is your daughter?

Just be aware that the ottoman hinges can do a fair bit of damage if a finger gets caught in the mechanism!

She’s 6 but fairly sensible. I have a sofa with a chaise section at the end that lifts up and it takes quite a bit of effort to lift it. It will just be sheets and bed linen stored in there so nothing of interest to her. I agree though the hinges look like they could do a lot of damage to little fingers.

There have been some serious incidents with children and ottoman beds, so I'd be extremely diligent.

The headboards completely different and so is the material they are upholstered with. One is velvet, the other one is linen. But yeah, they are the same colour…
