Help me plan my day in bed!

I've just come off 15 days of work with no break and a heavy cold. I'm not feeling ill, just congested and my plan for today is to go out in search of snacks, and head back to bed for a day of telly.
I'll be going to M&S for the snacks and got all the streaming channels.
I love spooky stuff but fairly low concentration stuff needed.
What shall I eat and what shall I watch? All recommendations very gratefully received!

You'll need toast, crisps, M&S pastries if you can't be bothered to make toast.. I would probably have a few mini pork pies and cheese and onion rolls.. Fill your boots in that Food Hall! Your day sounds amazing.

StarlightLady · 02/03/2024 08:44

Forget the food. You only get crumbs in the bed.

For starters, you need someone in bed with you. If nobody at home is available, pop out in the street and ask someone who looks nice 😀😀😀.

GailTheSnail · 02/03/2024 08:44

I'm not a fan of spooky stuff but i loves 'get out' which is a horror film. I'd definitely be getting some wasabi peas from m and s. I'm jealous!

WellAllBeLonelyTonightAndLonelyTomorrow · 02/03/2024 08:49

The new True Detective is good, quite spooky! Enjoy your day, that sounds utter bliss.

Definitely toast! That's right up my street.
And some crunchy stuff. I've been looking forward to this for ages. It's rainy where I am too so I won't even feel guilty about missing the day

Oh yeah, this is a good idea! I watched the first one and liked it

God no that is a very different vibe to toast and telly

If you like hot cross buns you might want to crack those out OP

Talk about going off topic. 🫤

mynameiscalypso · 02/03/2024 10:10

I would personally get a loaf of their San Francisco sourdough and maybe some cheese/cold meats. Or just eat bread. If I wanted to pretend to be healthy, I'd buy one of those overpriced Tom Spector yogurt drinks.

CharSiu · 02/03/2024 10:11

Try Life after Life on I player, just 4 episodes. I binge watched it a couple of days ago.

AnotherCoffeeBreak · 02/03/2024 10:12

I’m doing exactly the same, OP! I’ve had the week from hell at work, have got a cold and my period <sob> and no plans or responsibilities today. Plus it’s pissing down outside.

I’m sending DH out to get me snacks, soon, though Grin.

Following for TV and snack ideas!

Talk about getting confused/irritated over a simple joke

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 02/03/2024 10:19

For me:-

toast or Ryvita or crackers with dips or whatever you like, Philadelphia, peanut butter, marmite etc. add veggie crudities and stuffed olives.

Add crisps pop chips etc

Crunchie bites

TV - no idea but been binge watching latest MAFS Australia.

if you have Netflix watch The Holdovers and the snow plane crash one. Apple TV Children of the killer moon.

frozendaisy · 02/03/2024 10:23

Quiche can eat cold
Houmous and crackers and fancy bread
Brie for bread
Tangerines
Yogurt
Buffet food
Jam donuts

WinterNightStars · 02/03/2024 10:27

Some nice chunky seedy bread or tiger bread with butter or blackcurrant jam but not both together! I'd definitely go for the pastries too!

OldTinHat · 02/03/2024 10:27

Ooooh, I like this thread! I hope OP comes back and tells us what she's bought (although, personally, I would have used Deliveroo instead of going out).

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 02/03/2024 10:29

Sounds a lovely idea and the perfect day ❤️

Augustus40 · 02/03/2024 10:47

Personally I enjoy you tube way more than the streaming options. So much on there including films.

Ivyy · 02/03/2024 10:49

Sounds perfect op, although I don't like eating in bed, I'd have to take lounge breaks for that lol. I get obsessed with crumb spillage in bed and then go all princess and the pea over it, feeling even one tiny crumb in bed that night (I'm ND and have sensory issues though).

So for me on a similar stay in bed / go back to bed comfort day, it's hot chocolate, cups of tea and maybe some biscuits or chocolate, I couldn't deal with the crumbs from toast, crisps etc!

Love the idea of watching spooky stuff, I've been binge listening spooky podcasts so not up to date with spooky TV shows atm, will be following for suggestions!

Have a lovely cosy day op 🙂

missnevermind · 02/03/2024 10:55

For a day in bed and even slow start mornings I cannot recomend enough to get a pod coffee machine for the bedside table. Get a nice small one and hundreds of flavors to choose from as well as coffee. Teas hot chocolate, I even have horlicks, macron and pistachio drinks.

StarlightLady · 02/03/2024 10:56

@Yozzer87 - Talk about someone not having a bit of fun. Get the meaning of 😀😀😀. We don’t have to be deadly serious all of the time.

Notmyjob007 · 02/03/2024 11:01

For me it would be:

Sourdough bread with real butter and cheese
Crisps
Biscuits to dip in tea
Sausage rolls
Coca cola with ice lemon and a straw
Mcdonalds

I usually just binge watch utter trash TV, Real Housewives, 90 Day Fiance etc. Recently rewatched Skint and Benefits Britain 😳

crochetmonkey74 · 02/03/2024 11:04

OK so far I am thinking
Sourdough bread for toast - really fancying beans on toast for tea with proper butter
For snacking during the day I'm thinking ridged crisps, a box of lovely melon/pineapple / mango. There's a chocolate bar in m and s which is like a giant bar of walnut whips all stuck together. It's got mallow in. I fancy that but it's £6!!
