Dd 9 had no idea who I was talking about today. Had no idea of grandads name

I was telling dd I had someone call up today and say "hello its grandad" I said to her well it could of been xxx. She replied who? Donald Trump? Why would Donald Trump phone up?

It's her grandads name ( not Trump) and it was one of those moments you will never forget. When your child is 9 and their grandparents are alive, well and irrelevant to her.

Dh has tried to get a relationship going but fil only wants to see dh alone.

I'm not sad for dd or fil. It' is what is. But I can't get past how weird it all is. Fil talks to the older too online but he has always been like this.

Neither of my ils ever wanted to see ds. Been nc for 9. 2 years.. Ds is 9.6..
Even when dh begged fil.. Really is their loss.

Yes it's there loss. Fil remarried when dh was 8 and step mil has no kids. I think she possibly might be jealous, but more I think if there's no mil to facilitate fil doesn't think of the kids. He said once that he didn't think bils kids was his. I was shocked as he was so dispassionate and detached about when he said it. Either way, it's fil issue 100%

I wonder what he would think if he heard dd today. That's his legacy.
