Beth Rigby of Sky News says they've been reliably informed it's not going to be about a General Election, so what will it be?

His Party are happy to spout divisive rhetoric and engage in culture wars….until someone like Galloway gains an advantage from it.

IClaudine · 02/03/2024 08:51

but to balance the tone he had to come up with guff about far-right extremism, which kind of proves he's fallen victim to the same mob he talks about

Remind me again, who plotted to murder Rosie Cooper? Who murdered Jo Cox?

Sunak has never won an election.
He just slunk in. Nobody voted for him.

He hasn’t been elected to be PM. But has has been elected to be an MP - just as Galloway has

Are they Jehovah's witnesses?

It would explain the no birthday parties, and they are unlikely to be allowed to play regularly with other children.

No, interesting though the Jehovah's witnesses I know aren't like this.

@SloaneStreetVandal Labour did move to the centre under Blair, and attracted lots of new Labour voters. Didn't end too well.

As a Scot in England I do wonder when the voters will realise their beloved SNP isn't serving them too well.

In a safe seat though, his constituency has been Tory since 1910.

Didn't end too well? What do you mean by that? Having a world class NHS? Having programmes to give children a good start in life? Having schemes to give disabled people funding so that they can remain independent? That sort of didn't end too well?

Thank god the Tories got rid of all that...

IClaudine · 02/03/2024 09:00

And before you say illegal war, that was abhorrent. It doesn't alter the fact that Labour did a lot of good things.

Do you have a source for this poll?
Honest question.

"Only 13% think Israel should continue to take military action (down six points), and there has likewise been a five point decrease in the number of people who say that Israel’s attack on Gaza is justified, down to 24%."

The public are more likely to support a ceasefire, and less likely to sympathise with Israel

@Dymaxion I wonder how often other than maybe PMQs George Galloway will actually turn up in the House of Commons. He might be seen in Rochdale but only because the general election is later this year.

Westfacing · 02/03/2024 09:05

Sunak was helicoptered into about the safest Tory seat in the country, having had no previous ties to the area.

He then became PM by default. It's embarrassing to hear him constantly saying how much he loves 'our country' as though he still has to ingratiate himself and prove his bona fides and his right to be where he is.

He's been over-promoted and knows it - after the GE he won't stick around.

The majority of honour killings in the UK are by white men against white women. Weirdly its apparently okay when white men do it.

Well said

Honour killings are horrific but thankfully rare.

The vast majority of killers are white males.

The trick is to start out with a definition of "honour killings" that conveniently excludes white men. You know - like we've been busy redefining everything to make the facts fit the theory.

Terrorist/freedom fighter (for example).

Sunaks piffle was just another gentle nudge to take ownership of words so as to create more division.

I would say though that Galloway was always going to win the Rochdale seat, especially after the drama with the Labour candidate. So was pretty much a given.

Careful, some people get terribly upset that Suank has been an immigrant, and so presumably when he is having his sporadic war on immigrants hates himself?

Yes, white males are still the bigger group of killers in London too.

Yes, I’m talking about the UK because we are all in the UK and the poster was referring to Muslim women in the UK.

Why are you whatabouting other countries?

I'm making the relevant observation that muslim women in the west are infinitely less oppressed than muslim women in the middle east. And they are thus because women have greater rights and freedoms (that were hard fought for) in western culture (with the pertinent point being that religion is a primary influencer of culture).

JessS1990 · 02/03/2024 09:16

I have just heard a clip of Sunak's speech on the news, and I have a theory.

Sunak has seen the polls that say that Starmer is considered to be a better person to be PM than him, plus the Labour party is miles ahead of the Tories.

He has been advised to campaign on Starmer is boring.

So Sunak has used his great intellect to determine that he needs to out boring Starmer, which was why the speech was delivered with less emotion than if it had been spoken by AI which had been instructed to be as dull as it possibly could be.

It’s not relevant though, because no one was talking about Muslim women in other countries.

Anytime anyone talks about successful Muslim women, people harp on with ‘But what about x country’ as a distraction. It shows people actually don’t want to see Muslim women succeed.

If .... you knew you were toast at the next election.

If .... you knew you had fuck all achievements under your belt (in fact the less said of your legacy the better)

If ... you didn't give two shits about your own party, or it's fate

Then you too would try and create a YouTube moment to be played by various AI engines (who, let's be honest, probably feel a lot in common with Rish!) when asked "tell me about UK Prime Ministers).

I give you the famous St. Davids Day speech, by Rish!. Where men (and women) hold themselves cheap there were not there that day to watch the podium. We few, we merry few. We band of brothers (and sisters) ....

You get the point.

Really? Where did you get that information from? Over 50% of murders in London are committed by none whites. Those are the facts. Not saying that’s the case in the UK overall, but pointing out in Khans London, the figures are different.
