Hen do tips please!

Organising a hen do for my close friend next month- I've been a bridesmaid 3x before but this is the first time I've taken the lead with the hen do organising.

Quite afew of us aren't flush with money and have young children, so it's nothing extravagant or exotic- just a meal out in the city with some drinks after.

I have a couple of things I'm unsure about...firstly would like to collect some money from guests to cover the Hen's meal and drinks....would a direct to recipient online collection pot be best? Or ask them to bring abit of extra cash on the night? (Not sure how people would feel if I collected money myself as I haven't met alot of the guests so they don't know me well to know I'm trustworthy) I had a guest steal money from attendees at my Hen do so I'm just abit cautious of all this sort of thing!

Also, ideas for some activities for us all to do/ways I can make it special and those little touches that will make it a good evening :)

Thankyou x

If it’s a drink & meal how about a cocktail mixing class? Quite a few bars offer this ‘experience’ and it could warm the group up for the meal.
I’d definitely send a link around to get some money first rather than awkwardly sit at a table having people faff about with cash, ping payments and then worry that you don’t have enough because someone hasn’t paid. If you are having a meal you could ask about a set menu so there is a fixed price, people could pre order so they know the price upfront maybe.
Good luck!
