I have sold a piece of furniture through Facebook marketplace and the person is coming tonight to collect, at what point do you ask for the money , the start or end or what ? Confused

If they haven't paid you just before they are about to start loading the furniture then ask for the money then.

You really should not have to ask for it. They turn up, look at said item, agree to buy and hand over cash.

Before they start loading it. Not during, not after.

Just before loading.

Usually they'll come with the cash in their hand and give it to you as soon as you answer the door. If they don't, grab the item and before you hand it over, say 'That's ÂŁx please'.

I normally say something along the lines of just before you pay me do you want to take a look at the furniture to make sure you’re happy with it. Usually prompts them to pay before they start loading their car up.
