Taking hoods off coats

If I take my child's coat to a clothes alteration place, can they remove the hood? Is this something that can be done?

And if so, does anyone know how much it would cost?

Can't tell you about shops, but lot's of re making goes on here. A hood can absolutely be removed from a coat.
Assuming standard construction, it requires unpicking the top part of the garment around neck and potentially shoulders as well, removing the hood sections sewn in, and restitching the layers.

If the garments lined or fiber filled you need someone who understands how that can interact in the process.

Ok thank you I guess I just need to take them to see how much it would be now!
