Online shopping - banned by retailer!

Well I think I have been banned from ordering from Louis Vuitton because every time I place an order, it gets cancelled within seconds. It is a popular item that’s always sold out so very frustrating. I can buy in store with no problem but this item is rarely in stock.

I don’t know why I’m banned - I have ordered online years ago without issue but haven’t been able to since though I don’t attempt to buy from them often. I tried to place an order now with a different email address but my order gets immediately cancelled. Does anyone have any idea what is happening or why?

Odd that you think you've been banned when you have an order for something "popular that's always sold out" and "rarely in stock in shops" cancelled, rather than just assuming they don't in fact have the stock available Confused

Vergeofbreakdown23 · 29/02/2024 06:48

How about getting someone else to try?
It could be you need to clear your cookies - sounds like something in the software is bouncing you out, so if it's that clearing your cookies etc should sort it.

AlwaysFreezing · 29/02/2024 06:55

Dude, are you sure it's just not actually in stock?

Assuming you've tried an incognito browser, ordering on mobile data, etc etc.

Imagebrand · 29/02/2024 07:07

I assume their products are in stock as it states it is online. When something is not in stock you can’t order it at all. It’s not necessarily the exact same item, I have tried to order the medium and large sizes but same thing which is why I think there’s a problem with my account? I can go all the way to order confirmation but then receive an email to state the order is cancelled. The funds leave my account then are reimbursed

If the item is often out of stock and you can buy in store without issue, I'd just assume the website it wrong and the item isn't actually available.

MassiveOvaryaction · 29/02/2024 07:21

What does the cancellation email actually say?

Have you contacted customer service?

Dbank · 29/02/2024 07:36

Sounds more like bad stock control, nothing personal.

If they wanted to "block you" it seems unlikely they would take the funds.

MustBeNapTime · 29/02/2024 07:36

When you say "every time", how often have you tried to order and over what period of time? And surely if it was available when you went into the shop, you would just buy it there?

Or you could just contact them and ask since none of us know what might be wrong in your particular case?

Jonnycakes · 29/02/2024 07:40

Have you recently moved? Some companies can ‘blacklist’ an address associated with lots of returns. But agree, you’d need to ask them to be sure of why they’re doing it. Seems likely by the time your order is processed, someone else who placed an order before you has managed to get in first.

Imagebrand · 29/02/2024 07:46

I hear what you’re saying but it constantly happens which is why I think it’s me and not the item. been happening for over a year. it’s a few sporadic attempts, seems unlikely the item is completely out of stock each time

TheSnowyOwl · 29/02/2024 07:49

Why don’t you get somebody else unrelated to try and buy for you and see if they have the same problem?

LittleGreenDragons · 29/02/2024 07:54

Actually I wouldn't assume it's the retailer that is banning you - although I'm surprised you haven't emailed them, or chatted to a manager in the store, by now if it's been a year.

Perhaps it's your bank freezing the transaction thinking it's fraud.

Itslegitimatesalvage · 29/02/2024 08:04

So it’s been happening for a year and you haven’t called or emailed customer services? What do you think mumsnet posters can do for you which is more effective than their own customers services?

So why haven't you emailed customer services at all?

Flooom · 29/02/2024 08:43

Email or phone them?

TheWorldisGoingMad · 29/02/2024 09:45

Why not call them or email to explain the situation. Ask them what the problem may be.

^ This. Or go in store and ask the store to order it in for you.

Can you ring them?

MabelMaybe · 29/02/2024 11:05

Try a different browser and see if you get the same issue then

Imagebrand · 29/02/2024 19:41

Funnily enough they called me today unprompted and said they can sort the purchase out & I just need to do it over the phone to pass security.

but now I feel awkward cause I used my normal account and then a random email to try and purchase it from afresh, so they’ll probably realise that
