Young Women's Institute

Is anyone a member of a Young Women's Institute?

I'm keen to get a new hobby and meet new friends and think this may be a good place to start. I've been reading some reviews and some of the groups sound great although others don't give a great deal of info. I don't want to turn up to a group full of women my mum's age (75+) so how do I find the right one?

Any thoughts would be great! 😊

Following as I would love to hear more. I’m late 20’s and thought about joining wi but from the local pictures they don’t appear to be a diverse age range unfortunately. I searched for local groups through Facebook.

Ooo I'd love to know more, I'd be really interested in a young WI - although the regular WI sounds really interesting, I'd quite like to get involved and do it with people at similar life stages.

The regular WI is great in many ways but very restricted in terms of paperwork and they take 50% of subs into the central organisation. My village seceded from the WI and we formed a new women’s group that is very popular with a wide range of ages. Maybe start something entirely new?

Maybe we need to start our own group @Savvysavermum and @Midnlghtrain 😁

I'll keep hunting around my local area although am now thinking that as I'm late-forties, maybe I actually need a normal WI group!

You can start your own one, me and group of friends have just done so, I've a feeling that at 46 I might be one of the youngest. But if you can find about 6 women you are interested that's enough to start one, you'll make up the committee at first.

You can do them online as well.
