Quick question
Currently pregnant and was advised by my midwife not to eat mcflurrys.
Apparently soft serve ice cream is a grey area whether it's safe or not due to listeria risk .
Im aware its not the ice cream itself but the machines themselves.
I know they undergo regular automatic cleaning but I'm wondering regarding the nozzles the ice cream comes out from. Are they cleaned daily too? I'd read its only twice a month.
If anyone who works there I'd appreciate the advice.
I'm absolutely craving a mcflurry but I obviously am afraid to risk it as I don't want to catch listeria and harm my baby. Nhs says its fine but there seems to be alot of debate around ice cream and milkshake machines

Could you get some proper ice cream & blend it with a bit of milk or cream instead?

I remember so many women asking this on a pregnancy fb page I followed when I was pregnant and the consensus was they are cleaned daily and it's fine.

I'll let someone who actually works there advise though

Ah its the Ruby kit kat mcflurry I'm craving. Can't get those kit kits here to try make an alternative so I'm desperately wanting the one mcdonalds are currently serving 😭

They are very well cleaned daily and totally taken apart and deep cleaned weekly.

I work there. The machine is fully taken apart once a week. Everything sanitised and stripped down to nothing. Every night the machine heats to almost 200 degrees to heat treat and the remaining shake mix and Sundae mix is piped thru with boiling water to empty it and start it again. That's the procedure at our store. And should he universal

For what it's worth when I was pregnant I ate a lot of ice cream and milkshake and my baby is now a bouncing 3 year old

Should say I worked for them for ten years, though I left last year.
