To the walk in or no?

DD 8

Has a spot/bite/something itchy on her thigh. It’s come to a head and she popped it yesterday at school. Lots of pus she said. Woke up this morning and it looked like this (1st pic), very hot and angry and she’s in pain.

Took her to the pharmacy who prescribed amoxicillin.

This is what it looks like now, reg is spreading (the pen circle I drew at 8am this morning).

Given the redness is swelling would you take to the walk in now?

Systemically well, no health issues, just says it hurts/is itchy and hot

Ring 111 for an OOH appointment. Tho it doesn't look empty, it doesn't look empty any chance she will let you pop it?

She won’t let me touch it - it is hard around the spot

Yes
The reason you do the ring is to monitor for situations like this

So she's been given amoxicillin? That's the correct antibiotic for cellulitis in any case, so they may not do anything else in the short term. It'll take 24hrs + to see that start to take effect.

ObliviousCoalmine · 28/02/2024 19:46

I would, it's spread a lot in a relatively short space of time. The antibiotics haven't really had time to work but it's worsened since they were prescribed.
