Think the pipes are going to blow!!

I'm in a house that's been converted into little flats. There's been a very loud humming noise coming from the pipes throughout the whole house since yesterday.

According to google, humming when the taps are on indicates high water pressure but the humming stops when they are on... Does anyone know why this is/how to fix it??

Have informed landlord but they never respond to maintenance messages and have heard nothing from them.

We have difficult landlords who are weird about us calling out workpeople on our own accord... have tried knocking on the doors of others who live in the house and nobody is answering :(

Sounds like an air lock in the pipes. Do the following:

Turn your kitchen cold tap on at normal flow.
Leave it on.
While the water is running turn the internal stop tap on and off several times and finally back on.

If there's any air in the pipesdoing that will bring it through.

thanks @MrsMoastyToasty I will try! Do you think it will be one specific tap that is the cause? As there are multiple flats in the house (think little studios/one-bed conversions), I'm wondering if it is possible that it would be one of their taps causing the airlock?
