Anyone applied for a Passport lately?

How long does it take? Do they still offer the 1 day turn around service? It's just a straightforward renewal but the online application is terrifying what is the most painless and fast way to get this done?!

Any advice would be really appreciated, I am quiet stressed out by it!

Took a week

treacledan71 · 28/02/2024 18:38

They acknowledged my renewal by text on the Friday and I had it back by the next Friday.

BroccoliHighkicks · 28/02/2024 18:50

Recently did DS's passport online - expired child passport to first adult one. Got the new one within a week, very easy.

bagheera92 · 28/02/2024 18:55

I have just got my children's first uk passport and I was shocked it only took juts under 2 weeks!

CharAStar · 28/02/2024 18:56

I applied end of last year, a renewal for me and a first passport for my baby.
I received both after 8 days! I was very impressed!

MferMonsterSearchingForRedemption · 28/02/2024 19:29

Applied for my first passport on the 18th and it's being delivered tomorrow.

jackspratswife01 · 28/02/2024 19:50

I did mine online on the Sunday sent passport off recorded delivery on Monday, had my new passport delivered on the Friday, normal service , very impressive 🤣

Myotherusernameisshy · 28/02/2024 19:51

Really fast - my son's arrived today and was only ordered last week. Standard renewal.

tryingtobenormalish · 28/02/2024 20:33

I have a friend that cant get a passport at all because she cant get her mothers BC.
Because there is no trace of her mum born under said name that is on her own BC.

KitKat1985 · 28/02/2024 20:43

Mine and DD's were renewed recently and took just over a week.

coldcallerbaiter · 28/02/2024 20:47

A week just recently for a child renewal, I was pleasantly surprised

MadBlack · 28/02/2024 20:50

DH applied for renewal online on a Thursday, photo was the hardest part, booked appt with passport office on the monday and picked new one up in the half hour slot. Really easy, an actual improved govt service!

That must be her first passport then. Odd case for a few reasons. First passport as an adult is not common anymore, let alone the bc issue.

rainbegone · 28/02/2024 20:52

I renewed mine online and it took less than a week from when they received my old passport to when my new passport reached me. I couldn't believe how quick and painless it was. This was about 2 weeks ago btw

Pushkinini · 28/02/2024 21:21

DH did his about a month ago. Applied online on a Sunday, sent the old one back on a Monday and the new was back on the Tuesday of the following week.

MoreHairyThanScary · 28/02/2024 21:24

It's incredibly easy to renew, and now you can take photos with your phone it's so much better ( and cheaper!)

Tryingtodobetter82 · 30/04/2024 07:19

I know this is a very late response. I sent my daughter’s & my own passport in on Thursday and this morning I got a message to say it was with the delivery company.
I am so impressed with the passport office.

10 years ago it took 7 weeks (and needed my MP to chase it up) before I got it back.

chipshopElvis · 30/04/2024 07:22

I've just renewed 4
1 x replacement of lost passport. Needed identity verified. = 6 days
1 x replacement adult passport = 10 days
1 x replacement child passport = 10 days
1 x 1st child passport. Needed identity verified = 19 days.

Online form is brilliant and easy and we took our own photos.

suki1964 · 30/04/2024 07:27

We did ours online, took four days

For the photos, for our own peace of mind we went to snappy snaps. Sure its about £15 each but you got a hard copy ( been very handy for applying for our bus passes ) and could print as many as you wanted your self from the code and for once I have a passport photo that Im not embarrassed to show :)

Vettrianofan · 30/04/2024 07:33

19 days from filling out online form to postie handing me the passports! (April).

Vettrianofan · 30/04/2024 07:34

Took our own photos at home.

dementedpixie · 30/04/2024 07:36

I did dds renewal last month. Took 8 days. The online service kept saying dds eyes looked closed on the photo I took with my phone but you can override it and submit it anyway. Got accepted and its on her new passport

Babymamamama · 30/04/2024 07:39

I pay at the post office extra for the checker service where they take the pic and submit it all on your behalf- that way I know no silly errors have skipped through.

dementedpixie · 30/04/2024 08:19

I would never pay the extra to do it through the post office. It is easy and quick to do it online.
