Pip waiting times

I applied for pip for my son back in July 2023. I was told they would send forms in a few weeks. January 2024 arrived and still no forms. I called and they couldn't understand why they were never sent out. I received them and send them back. They received them on 23 January. I called today as I haven't heard anything and I wanted to make sure they arrived. They said it can take weeks or months as it has been sent for assessment, what does that mean. How long has everyone waited for the whole process start to finish.

The forms should usually only take about 2 weeks to arrive so you should have called them much earlier. Once you've sent the forms back there's not much you can do really, except wait. It can take many months.

I phoned to claim on behalf of a family member early November. Sent form back late November. Phone assessment was mid January and PIP was awarded early February. So it took roughly 3 months. I received texts and letters at different stages which didn't give a lot of information but it was reassurance that the claim was progressing.

You should have received a text message acknowledging they've received the forms. From there it takes 25 weeks to process them and be called for assessment. If you're already claiming you'll receive your money in this time if you're not it will be backdated.

DD applied in October, got confirmation they'd received the application within a week and a letter stating the amount she would receive within 6 weeks; she got the first payment the following month. I'd assumed it would take longer given the posts on here, but I guess she was lucky.

My pip forms took 10 months from start to finish, it's not a quick process sadly.

It depends on area. In my local area PIP assessments are being done within around 6 weeks of the form being sent back so really not as slow as it has been in the past.

I applied for PIP in the November, assessed in March, and awarded payment in April. That was considered quite quick. I know someone for whom it took nearly a year.

Hi
how long are pip reviews taking at the moment

Mines just gone over the one year mark. Had notification that assessment had been completed from the form so no further assessment needed & decision should be within 8 weeks. So 15 months in total.

It totally depends on your circumstances, whether they reach out to healthcare teams or consultants that support you or whether it’s a more “simple” way forward with less evidence required. This is the reason for such differences in PIP timings.

Person I'm trying to help had forms returned Dec 2023 and their phone interview is going to be tomorrow.

(If anyone can offer further advice re the phone interview for a person who has fallen through the net to the extent of becoming homeless and barely surviving because of their difficulties, please check the thread below. She's coming to my home for the interview tomorrow and is currently in a very poor state and very shut down.)
