Just seen this article on Apple News. What sort of young person would get these sorts of jobs? Do you think it's enough to do the law conversion course /SQE or do you need to be very top level in terms of universities attended, internships etc.

Seems an extraordinary salary for a what, 23 year old. What are they paying for?

There might be an outlier or two but typically a top law degree, internships and a well placed uncle.

'Well placed uncle' made me laugh. 😆

Obviously doing a law degree and being qualified are just basic requirements. Top law firms compete for the best and brightest young lawyers. Each firm will probably have different criteria/qualities that they value but yeah they're going after people with a high quality of university/degree, work experience, references, connections to the industry and - importantly - those who "fit". What are they getting in return for the fat salaries? Massive profits generated from the fees paid by clients in respect of said young lawyers' tireless labour.

Also a young person willing to be flogged like donkey for a few years.

I worked with some ex magic circle grads - they were broken.
