And I mean constant sneezing, lots of groaning, constant nose blowing, looks poorly. He's upstairs working on our flooring.

While I'm grateful that he's clearly not wanting to let us down, I also don't want what he's got and I'm conflicted between feeling sorry for him and being slightly annoyed that we're now all due to get whatever he's got. He's clearly very poorly.

Would you say something / send him home / make him a Lemsip?

I'd let him
Crack on, I'd want the job done!

Toddlerteaplease · 27/02/2024 13:26

He's an adult, old enough to decide for himself if he's too u well to work.

Same here!

Bobbybobbins · 27/02/2024 13:26

Ask him if he wants a lemsip, otherwise let him crack in.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 27/02/2024 13:27

Unless you are getting close to him, the chances of you getting his cold are pretty low, I'd say, @FFSFSFFS, so if he is happy to carry on working, I'd let him.

Cotswoldbee · 27/02/2024 13:27

No, I would leave him be to get on with his work.
Are aren't standing over him watching him work or WFH in the same room are you?

ThisHonestQuail · 27/02/2024 13:28

Let him keep working, unless you’re going to send him home with full sick pay!

Midnlghtrain · 27/02/2024 13:28

Offer him a lemsip and open a window once he's gone?

Tbh he won't want to let you down, won't want to miss getting paid and probably doesn't have time to shuffle all of the jobs around if he did have to move yours!

StopStartStop · 27/02/2024 13:28

No, don't send him home. You might not see him again. Offering a lemsip seems like a nice idea.

FFSFSFFS · 27/02/2024 13:29

@Cotswoldbee no I'm not standing over him watching him work.

This. It’s only a cold, albeit a bad one, it’ll be fine.

toomuchfaff · 27/02/2024 13:36

Following on from all the others - air the house out, windows open for a few hours when hes gone to disperse any bugs, wipe all the surfaces down etc. Try to reduce the risk of you getting whatever he had.

This. He probably doesn't get paid if he doesn't work. You could give him a LemSip though.

FFSFSFFS · 27/02/2024 13:55

I've made him a Lemsip!!

Airing out and wiping surfaces once he has gone is good advice. Thanks all!

If you've got a workman in working, I wouldn't stop him - there's a fair few that aren't reliable.

However, I'd try and keep my distance, open some windows on the same floor and clear around things he's touched if you really don't want to catch whatever.

DappledThings · 27/02/2024 14:56

I wouldn't do anything. It's up to him. Such dramatics about wiping down surfaces.

Why us that dramatic, it's common sense if someone is coughing and sneezing everywhere, op and family could be vulnerable, he's lucky no one has asked him to wear a mask.

Delatron · 27/02/2024 15:01

I wouldn’t spend much time near him if you can help it. If you have more than one loo use a different one to him and wipe it all down. Open windows now if he’s ok with that. Air house after he’s gone. I’m sick of all the colds flying around so I would be this thorough! Wipe down touch points like door handles.

I wouldn’t send him home though

Delatron · 27/02/2024 15:02

I don’t think it’s dramatic to not want one of the awful colds going around. People are being wiped out for weeks and it’s miserable.
