Falafel wrap from Sainsburys - tastes like there's chemicals in it!

Got falafel and houmous with veggies in it wrap from Sainsburys this morning and opened it for an early lunch today and put on plate today (plate and surface both clean) - it tastes like there's chemicals on it - like someone's used chemicals near/on it - almost like acetone - nail polish remover? I've had it before and it tasted fine, no chemical taste/aftertaste.

I'm not sure I've got the receipt because sometimes I just pay and say no to the receipt, bought it locally though.

Would they accept a return and complaint? I've still got packaging.

Before you complain is there any chance you're either pregnant or have COVID?

What's the use by date on it. I've had things taste chemically when they're off.

I bought this last week and didn't finish it as it twsted awful. There was a definite chemical like taste which I think was in the falafel itself. Definitely not just you.

save it and phone sainsbury's - they may need to carry out testing on it!!

Has it got coriander in it? Some people have a genetic mutation that makes coriander taste like chemicals. Im one of them & it makes falafel & onion bhajis taste like soap.

Me too! OP, you haven't been cutting out UPF recently have you? Only because when I started reducing how many ultra processed foods I was eating I really started to notice how artificial pre-packaged stuff tastes.

Is it the vegan one? It has peppers in which often taste and smell chemically and dreadful if out of date at all. I know it wasn't out of date, but I have noticed lately quality and freshness do seem to have gone down and often peppers in fresh products are past their best. It also contains coriander which many people taste as a soapy taste. If the peppers were a bit dodgy and you have the coriander dial taste gene, that could explain it.

Yes but I had an M&S celery and cheese sandwich recently which tasted fine to me.

Sounds like it had gone bad. If you're going back anyway I would speak to them about it.

If it’s not fit for eating then despite any supposed allergies I have they should refund me. Never had this issue before with coriander.

I just had it today, had one piece of the falafel wrap and it was fine, I get this wrap a lot and it’s fine. However the second piece tasted exactly like someone had put nail varnish in it , I had already swallowed one bite but I spat out what I was in my mouth when it got unbearable and threw the rest away. I’ve had a headache since. I don’t think it’s anything to do with coriander maybe something went off but it should not then taste like nail varnish surely? Very odd maybe way too much chemical or preservative accidentally was added and that is why? Let me know if u get a refund and what they say? If it is a chemical leak or machine issue they should be told. Hopefully my headache goes away and I’ll be fine

I've had to throw away vegan sandwiches from Sainsbos before. I never buy them now as they taste weird.

@Serencwtch I didn't know that. I genuinely thought falafel tasted like soap and have always hated it.
