Best buttery leggings

What do you recommend? These are just for lounging and nipping out and about for a walk with the kids. I am pretty active with 2 young boys, but don't need gym style/running leggings as I have plenty of those - these are more for comfort.

I have the lulu lemon align dupes from amazon and LOVE them, they are so comfy, but didn't last long - after a few months (and granted lots of washes) they are now pretty bally. Can't warrant spending the price on the actual lulu lemon ones, so what else do people recommend?

Am I the only one that didn't like the Sinophant ones? I ordered a black pair last year and sent it back as it was incredibly thin and see through. Just wondering if I maybe just got a dodgy one and should try again?

I just bought iuga ones of Amazon and they are incredibly soft, not see through and have two deep pockets. The only thing I don't like is that the waist is a bit lower than I would like it, but still above my bellybutton.

None of mine are see through, maybe you got a dodgy pair.

I wear them under dresses sometimes and I don't care if others don't like it, it would be well shit if we all liked the same things.

I was coming on to recommend the Amazon Sinophant leggings. Buttery soft and the waistband does not roll down - even when exercising.

I wanted the leopard ones but they only have XXL left. I have bought black instead.

I also want to know how someone can tell the difference so easily between thick tights and leggings under dresses? Am I missing something?

Actually if you want to look summery in a floaty frock but it’s the classic great british summer and a bit chilly, I’d like to make a case for a completely hidden cropped pair underneath a midi/maxi dress.

But visible leggings under a dress? I don’t think I’ve seen it on anyone over the age of 7 since I was at 6th form college in the mid 00s. If it’s back in fashion then NO THANKS.

So, how exactly would you tell the difference between someone wearing skintight black leggings and black tights?

I did ask a PP the same question but strangely enough, she didn't answer Grin

I asked PP this but they never answered.

I think it's just a nasty way of trying to bash people, personally.

These, so soft I've got them in 4 different colours. Cheap as chips and best leggings ever

SINOPHANT High Waisted Leggings... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07Q7GZ6ZV?ref=ppxpoppmobappshare

Yes these!! I have 6 pairs of them and love them. They wash well, they don't bobble, fade, or go thin, and snap back to their original shape with every wash so they are never baggy.

They look quite different no? Tights have that partially opaque slightly shiny sheen to them and denier dependent but unless they’re 200 you can usually catch a glimpse of skin underneath. Leggings are distinctly more matt and much thicker. You could just wear leggings out and it’s fine but if you just wore tights it would be obscene!

That said, with boots I don’t think I would be looking closely at a stranger enough to tell leggings or tights! I was thinking more of that god awful 00s look of like cropped leggings under a mini dress, or worse a denim skirt, then a flash lower leg before the shoes which would usually be converse, or shudder, a pointy stiletto if you were going on a night out 🤣 No one should bring that look back!

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 28/02/2024 16:35

They look quite different no?

But not so different that one looks absolutely fine and one looks (to quote a PP) "terrible", lol.

No as I said I don’t think I would notice on a stranger if they were wearing boots. I know that poster hasn’t replied but I’m guessing they’re thinking along the same lines as me and are just more blunt- that tights cover the foot and look seamless, whereas leggings stop at mid calf or the ankle and that with shoes (not boots!) it’s a bit of dated look that’s best avoided unless your a toddler then it’s ideal for not showing your knickers at the playground. But each to their own, not trying to insult anyone’s style, just thinking purely of my own teenage crimes against fashion and how no one needs to see that again 🤣

ChaoticCrumble · 28/02/2024 17:07

I mean... you blatantly are insulting people who say they do do that (saying they look like a toddler), but whatever.

I much prefer leggings to tights in winter. Unlike what most people are looking for, I buy thinner leggings that are quite breathable for this purpose and with my boots on they just look like tights.

But shock horror, I've actually decided I want to wear some of my shorter dresses with cropped leggings this year. I do have chub rub shorts but I like the extra warmth of a legging and even when I'm thin my thighs chafe so... It'll probably make me look a bit mumsy but it'll be for those days I'm wfh and just doing the school run, or when I'm taking my youngest to the park, so I'll cope/

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 28/02/2024 17:13

But each to their own, not trying to insult anyone’s style

Except to tell them they dress like a toddler Confused

InTheRainOnATrain · 28/02/2024 17:23

Actually I said that I think it looks dated, based purely on styles that were popular when I was in my teens and you’re the one that said mumsy which is sort of the same thing isn’t it?? But honestly who cares if you’re comfy and happy? And I wasn’t saying that adults look like toddlers at all, just that totally separately to the above, it’s very practical to put leggings under dresses for little girls!

isthismylifenow · 28/02/2024 17:28

pontipinemum · 27/02/2024 15:01

I like the glow mode ones from shein. The black ones are starting to fade maybe 18 months on and I did need to 'de-bobble' the inside thighs. They have a phone pocket which I like.

I've just been looking at these.

What is the sizing like please. I'm a 8/10, wondering whether to go for a small or medium.

ChaoticCrumble · 28/02/2024 17:29

"Best avoided unless your a toddler"

Dated isn't quite the same as mumsy imo but I think most here would agree with you. A difference of opinion is fine.

But what's the point of saying 'not trying to insult anyone' along with a bunch of insults? You are trying to insult people who do that. You are.

ChaoticCrumble · 28/02/2024 17:32

Anyway, I do have a relevant question - as mentioned I usually prefer thinner leggings when I wear them with dresses, but I suppose thicker leggings might work with some outfits or tunics I have. But do the Amazon ones get a bit sweaty in the crotch area? Sorry to ask!

Yes I think it’s dated look on everyone that isn’t toddler and therefore it’s yes a look that I would personally avoid. I don’t see how dated is much different to mumsy… isn’t that actually more of an insult since it’s more personal and implies there’s something negative about looking ‘like a mum’? But that’s just my opinion! And a difference of opinion is good. I’d be horrified at the idea of anyone changing the way they dress because of my random musing about my teenage dress sense!

On toddler girls I just think it looks nicer than knickers on show. I definitely do not think, nor was I implying, that it makes grown women look a toddler. Really sorry if I upset anyone with that, it really wasn’t where I was going with that comment at all.

Daveismyhero · 28/02/2024 17:45

I find the pocket sport leggings equally as good as the lulu lemon or sweaty Betty leggings at a much better price

savemejebus · 28/02/2024 17:46

CUDet · 28/02/2024 11:52

I'm a Nursery teacher and wear leggings under my dressses so as not to flash the little ones when sat cross legged on the carpet, also warmer for when playing outside with them.
I've been recommended Sweaty Betty leggings for exercising in, looked on the website and the reviews seem to be quite poor. People commenting that they are not as good quality as they were. Has anyone bought them more recently?

I'm a lifelong SB fan but the last 3 pairs (power, high waisted) I've bought have lasted less than 6 months before they've either ripped or bobbled. I'm on a new pair because they fit me SO well but they're definitely not worth £90 a pair anymore (if they ever were!).

I wear them everyday as a dog walker and have never found them sweaty unless it's really warm outside. I'm out walking for 5-6 hours a day if that helps!

DuckOffAWatersBack · 28/02/2024 17:50

Buttery leggings? The feel? The colour? Huh?

I don't know about the amazon ones, because I haven't looked at the material, but polyester is always going to be much worse for this than natural fibres. Cotton or viscose would be much cooler and more breathable. I'm guessing most leggings that have that very 'buttery' soft feel to them, will be polyester. The ones that I have that best fit that description are polyester. I probably would only wear those in winter!

What size do people get the Amazon leggings if you are a large 12?

I wear a 12-14 and the S-M fit nicely

Almighty leggings 😂

I would def go for small in your case. I am a 14 and have the L. They fit really nicely. I am 16 weeks pregnant and already MASSIVE and they still fit comfortably. Although I have bought their maternity ones too

I'm 5'4
