Best driving songs....ever!

In a couple of months I'm going on week long campervan trip around New Zealand and I've been adding songs to my road trip playlist for the last couple of weeks. I've got thousands of songs in my library but I end up skipping through loads of them so I think I need a cull.

Looking for suggestions for some decent driving music, I've got 200 songs currently but ideally I'd like to double that so I'm not listening to the same songs over and over. I don't like rap, dance, garage, techno, R&B, boy/girl band music (Westlife, Girls Aloud etc.) but I do like indie, rock (not metal), bit of country.

Any ideas?

The Cult She Sells Sanctuary
Echo and The Bunny Men The Killing Moon

Anything by The Smiths

I could probably fill your trip with 90s Britpop (if that's your thing?).
Oasis- she's electric
Blur- song 2
Supergrass- Richard III
Kaiser Chiefs- I predict a riot

Also
Muse either Knights of Cydonia or Supermassive Black Hole
Ben Folds Five - Underground

And, because I'm Scottish
Proclaimers- I'm gonna be (500 miles).

idontlikealdi · 27/02/2024 09:11

Tracy Chapman - Fast Car
Bruce Springsteen - Born to Run
Tom Petty - pretty much any of his songs!
Children - Robert Miles

FleaDog · 27/02/2024 09:17

Listen to The War on Drugs - lots of theirs is good driving music, especially the more upbeat ones for driving!

Philharmonic Orchestra version of Dancing in the Fark, as well as the original obviously!

FleaDog · 27/02/2024 09:17

Dark not Fark😂

Road to hell. Because it always seems to come on when I am in a traffic jam.

Yes I know it is not supposed to be about driving.

Sgtmajormummy · 27/02/2024 10:23

Willie Nelson is good for Country driving songs.
Top Gear did a top 10 driving songs and Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” was number 1.
