Manchester trams

Hi all,

I’m visiting Manchester for work this week but I’m not sure about how to go about paying for tram tickets - online it states that some train tickets include tram travel but I’m not sure if my train tickets would include tram travel? The train tickets were booked by my company, I’m not sure if it’s a special ticket that includes tram travel. I’m travelling from central Manchester to Salford and there’s both tram and train routes.

Also I’ve stupidly forgot to bring my card with me, but I have cash. Am I able to buy a ticket with cash on the tram from the ticket inspectors? I’d hate to get a fine, just genuinely unsure.

As long as your ticket says 'Manchester central zone' on it it should be good.

You have to buy the tickets from a machine before you board. Cash will be fine!

I think your train ticket would need to say ‘Manchester central’ to include the tram, but I’m not sure so I’d just buy a tram ticket just in case.

You can't pay by cash on the tram or at machines but just find a paypoint sign (google what it looks like) at shops etc you can pay by cash in case your ticket doesn't say Manchester central zone

I'm sure you can pay cash at the machines.

Do you have anything like Apple Pay? You can use that too.

Depending where you are going in Salford there might not be a tram option.
