How does it work on secondary school result day?

I have submitted the application (on time) and I’ve double checked my parent portal login. I know the results come out on the 1st March but does anyone know what sort of time?

Could be midnight or early hours of the day itself
will depend - I know some people don’t hear until later on in the day

SusieSussex · 26/02/2024 14:13

I think we got an email about 5pm.

waterrat · 26/02/2024 14:22

they arrived ad hoc to people throughout the day - quite stressful! When the kids came out of school lots of parents were waiting to tell them what school they had got.

I got mine at about 2.30pm last year. Seems like so long ago now!

Do you have to “accept” the place, or is it just assumed unless they hear from you? (First child going through it so I’m clueless).

Bluevelvetsofa · 26/02/2024 14:33

Unless it says specifically that you don’t need to confirm, I’d confirm acceptance.

You have to accept the place.

Cookerhood · 26/02/2024 14:36

It varies on where you live for both timing & acceptance.

AnneNotEmily · 26/02/2024 15:29

Fingers crossed for a morning email. I don’t think my nerves will hold out until the evening!

When they arrive depends on the procedure of the local authority. Also remember that they need to send them out in batches so so e people will get them earlier than others.

What to do with the info also varies by authority. So you need to read everything that they have sent you about accepting /wait lists / what happens next.

Haribosweets · 26/02/2024 15:38

Exactly midnight where I am. The portal informed me at midnight then got an email about 10am to confirm. Some places are much later in day though so I was one of the lucky ones!

Friolero · 26/02/2024 15:40

London and Surrey use eadmissions and you can log in at 5pm to see the outcome, which you need to accept or decline. The emails usually come later in the evening.

Other counties use other systems and will send them at different times, some from midnight or the early hours of the 1st.

daisybrown37 · 26/02/2024 15:46

If you are London/Surrey it will be 5pm on the 1st.

Other LAs will vary.

Elephantscantfly · 26/02/2024 16:49

It depends on where you are, ours go out in batches from 6am, we are a LA school in Wales. You get an email to tell you
to log into the portal, you dont need to accept your place if you are happy to accept it. The one change for us this year is that you will not be put on the waiting list for your first choice automatically. This needs to be requested via the LA.

Good luck to everyone waiting!

I wish there was just one time when it was released. I’m going to be refreshing my parent portal and emails all day 🙁

Does anyone know if Warwickshire LA give their NATIONAL SECONDARY RESULTS DAY results typically earlier or later in the day? Thanks in advance! x
