Chip pans

Does anyone else still use one? I know they became unpopular due to fires. Chips in the oven just don’t taste the same and no the air fryer doesn’t compare either. We hardly eat chips at home as they just don’t taste good in the oven. We only ever used a chip pan growing up. Anyone still use a chip pan?

The only person I know with a chip pan is 72 year old DM. Wouldn’t surprise me if it’s the same one she’s had since the 70’s tbh.
We have old family friends the same age as her that have a deep fat fryer, but they always used that instead of a chip pan anyway.
Everyone else I know either has oven chips or doesn’t eat chips at home.

We always buy chips from the chip shop now. One of my flat mates started a chip pan fire once, and I’m not prepared to take the risk after that experience.

I use the Sage deep fat fryer that is temperature controlled and only use sunflower oil in it.
