Help me plan a trip to Barcelona please

Hoping to go later this year, 2 or 3 nights.
Where is a good place to stay for sightseeing without costing me a kidney?
We need to be able to get there easily from the airport by public transport

The public bus from the airport is excellent! Cheap and runs frequently.
A trip to the Mercado del Boqueria - and pull up a stool and eat at one of them. I'll dig out the name of the one we ate at, was amazing. Use the tourist bus - 2 different routes - do both, hop on and hop off at leisure. Loved it and can't wait to go back!

Not got any accommodation tips for you but you have to visit the secret cava bar. No visit to Barca is complete without a drink and tapas here.
